Does Fox Deportes still air the libertadores?
Not at this time, but we’re hoping they’ll add some in the near future. We’ll update this TV schedule if/when they do.
Is the commentary in Spanish? Any idea why Fox Deportes stopped airing it if they have the rights?
The teams from Liga MX aren’t competing this season, so that’s probably the reason why FOX Deportes isn’t picking up the games. FOX has the rights to the games in Spanish and English, but I haven’t had a chance to watch the games on FS2GO yet to determine if both languages are offered.
Thanks for the info, I guess the ratings werent there, they are repeating Champios league matches instead.
repeating matches like we really care about those matches from the champions league…everybody have recorders now to record a game and it does not make any sence and repeating a game 2 or 3 times a day and not get viewers when you can put a copa libertadores game and get some viewers
so just bc they dont compete does not means that nobody else dont watch the games. bring the games back with or without the mexican teams
Yes.
I would like to know if Copa libertadores is on Fubo tv
At this time, it’s only on FOX Soccer 2GO at http://www.foxsoccer.tv/?WT.mc_id=AFF_EPLTALK
I have directv, do i need to sign up on Fox Sport 2 GO now to watch these games?
FOX Soccer 2GO is a separate paid streaming service that is not available through DirecTV. You can learn more about FOX Soccer 2GO at http://www.foxsoccer.tv/?WT.mc_id=AFF_EPLTALK
I literally couldn’t be more furious at Directv, i’ve been with DishNetworks for 2 years and i was able to watch my Argentine team “River Plate” once in a while because they barely showed “Copa Libertadores” and “Argentina soccer”.. I was told to go with Directv because theu show them all the time.. i believed it and went with directv and i when i was on the phone hooking it all up, i was told that i will be able to see games from Copa Libertadores and Argentina Soccer.. i’ve been with Directv almos 3 months now, and i haven’t been able to watch ON SINGLE GAME FROM ARGENTINA OR LIBERTADORES CUP! I’ve called to ask what channels do they show them on, they told be which ones and i have NEVER SEEN THEM. I couldn’t be any more furious at Dorectv.. I NEED TO KNOW NOW HOW DO I GET TO WATCH THE ARGENTINA LEAGUE AND LIBERTADORES CUP NOW! PLEASE! THIS IS SO WRONG! HELP!
Its all on youtube live and in decent quality. Calm down gallina
You mean riber
truly a shame in the US we cant watch matches from the Copa Libertadores,Copa Sudamericana,Recopa Sudamericana,Argentina or Brazil on TV.
Is fox soccer 2 go still broadcasting the copa libertadores 2017? I looked at their schedule for next week, and did not see any single game, for the copa libertadores. They indeed broadcasted the games for the previous 2 legs of the copa libertadores but it seems like they do not have the games, anymore. Does, anyone knows more, info on this?
Thanks
Let me check with FOX and I’ll get back to you.
My contact says that currently the Copa Libertadores games won’t be shown on FOX Soccer 2GO but FOX is in discussions regarding these rights, so it’s possible they still may be shown if an agreement can be made.
Directtv still do. Fox.sports, Fox.sports 2
I would not be surprised if FOX Sports were to sublicense the Copa Libertadores to another entity in the U.S., in a “swap” for the rights to another product.
Without Liga MX clubs, Copa Libertadores is worth virtually nothing in the U.S. Hispanic market. About 65% of the U.S. Hispanic market comprise of people of Mexican descent, who prefer to watch Chivas Guadalajara, Club America, and the “global” brands such as Barcelona and Real Madrid. The South American clubs don’t sell in the U.S. Hispanic market in sufficient numbers.
(Looking back, I am glad that I attended a Copa Libertadores knockout round match in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico in 2013 with a media credential when I had the opportunity to do so. A handful of English-speaking media members from San Diego, namely Mark Ziegler of the San Diego Union Tribune and 2 staff members from XEPRS-AM “The Mighty 1090”, were at Estadio Caliente with me. Club Tijuana English-language media relations manager Ivan Orozco took good care of us, He gave Ziegler and me a ride across the border back to the U.S. after the press conference. Estadio Caliente, though still under construction at the time, was up to first world standards, with reliable wi-fi in the auditorium where the post-match press conference was held.)
After Univision launched Univision Deportes Network, FOX started cutting back on programming on FOX Deportes to the point where FOX has basically given up on FOX Deportes, turning it into an outlet with nothing but simulcasts of some events from FOX Network and FS1 (i.e. MLB Playoffs + World Series and the UEFA Champions League through May 2018) plus simulcasts of news and studio programs from FOX Sports Latin America North (Mexico City), including La Ultima Palabra and Central FOX.
FOX also gave up on the U.S. Hispanic general entertainment market, selling its 50% stake in MundoFOX (now MundoMax) to its Colombian partner RCN. MundoMax has since lost several affiliates in big markets, notably San Francisco-San Jose-Oakland.
They are not showing any of those games!! What happened?
FOX Sports had originally announced that they would be showing the games, but then they removed the listings from their website. As far as we know, they’re in talks to try to show the games.
How can you know this? I was also able to watch the previous games.
FOX showed the earlier rounds of the Copa Libertadores, but according to my contact, there’s been a hold-up regarding the next round of games. Whatever the issue is, hopefully it’ll be resolved soon.
Finally, some sort of light is being shed as to what is happening with the Libertadores broadcasts on Fox. Thanks Christopher… I was looking forward to watching Sport Boys tonight but see tha neither that match or any Copa matches are being streamed this week. Can your friend from the inside shed some more light on this… is the goal to televise/stream once again all matches as they did before and if not, could they at least sell the rights to someone who will? Also, any news on streaming the Copa Sudamericana at all and if not, will they sell the rights to that? There’s no point in having rights to something if you’re not gonna show it in some format. Also, I find it surprising that there was no formal announcement of this current programming change; it’s almost as if they take our demographical viewership for granted and feel that we’ll just keep waiting until they put it back on, which sadly is the case since they own the rights and no one else can show it. That being said, I appreciate your friend giving you whatever info he can and you passing that info to us. I hope things return to normal soon for both the Libertadores and Sudamericana. With the new format changes to both tournaments (parralleling in ways the relationship between the UEFA Champions League and Europa League) this year was suppose to be exciting times for viewing these cups on HD TV in the US especially since, so far, there has been an increase in parity among the clubs but instead, we have to resort to searching online for the Fox programming on the Hispanic Brother Network, Fox Deportes. ?
The rights to the Copa Sudamericana are in the same situation as the rights to Copa Libertadores. FOX Sports had the rights, but the rights are now in limbo until a resolution can be found. I’ll try to see if I can find more info.
Thanks Mr. Harris. I appreciate it.
Mr. Harris,
Just wanted to know if your friend had any update on this matter?
This is so frustrating and so ridiculous! People pay the satellite and cable service to be able to watch the programming and they fail to broadcast the events that they have the rights to.
We want to be able to watch Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana in the US. If FOX does not wish to broadcast them for whatever reason, they should sell the rights to another channel that is willing to offer the product.
They are at this time ripping people off who are paying for the subscription and not able to watch the games. Unreal!
They aired the competition for years and had horrible ratings, the ratings made MLS look great so why would they keep showing it? If someone offered to take it off their hands I’m sure they would, it’s telling nobody has, even the Spanish networks want nothing to with it with no Liga MX clubs, go into the TV business and show a product with low ratings over one with higher ratings and see how long that lasts. I’ve recommended WST take over some properties since they think soccer should be aired no matter the business side so hopefully that’s in the works.
The only reason the MX teams withdrew is because the Libertadores Cup will be played throughout the entire season just like the UEFA Champions League does. The MX teams prioritized the Concachampions over Libertadores, even though they know the competitiveness and TV ratings of the Concachampions are almost non-existent.
This is probably, most likely, yeah definitely just my opinion but the only reason they prioritize the Concacaf Champions League over the Conmebol Copa Libertadores is because they have this dream of winning the World Club Cup one day and when they do, the whole nation will shut down all schools and businesses and celebrate as if it were the highest achievement any club AND national team could obtain (unless Mexico wins the World Cup)… and in the meantime, while they wait for “destiny” to happen, they are also making sure that an American club or MLS club doesn’t win the Champions League and thus, have a chance to become the Champion Club of the world before they do. What en Ego, huh? ? Joking aside (maybe), why else would they prioritize it?! You said itself and it is completely true; they DO know the competitiveness and TV ratings of the Concachampions are almost non-existent.
Well, you know. I wanted to do it the right way but since Fox is not airing the games even online, then thanks youtube for the users that share the games. At least we can see it live there. I guess Fox dont care about it
Mr. Harris,
Just wanted to know if your friend had any update on Fox broadcasting/re-streaming the matches?
Not at this time. We don’t like promoting illegal streams, but at this time, the only way to watch Copa Lib games is via illegal streams on YouTube, so that may be your best bet to watch the games until a legal option can be found (if any).
If Fox doesn’t want to air these games over the satellite or cable channels, why not air the games on the streaming platform FoxSportsGo at least?
Hi Paul, that’s what they did recently. They moved the games off the TV and put them on FOX Soccer 2GO. But now they’ve pulled them off FOX Soccer 2GO entirely. Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana have been removed from the page on the FOX Soccer 2GO site that features the list of competitions they carry.
If they’re not going to show it in any way, are they going to at least sell the rights? This is just ridiculous; I feel like we’re living in the 90s again, having to look for a bar (this time, an illegal streaming link) that has a decent satellite signal to show the games (this time, at least we don’t have to pay cover). And if, in the end, the sole reason for pulling out was because Mexican clubs weren’t participating, that sucks because it seems they won’t return until 2019 so I guess next year will be another year where FOX won’t show the matches and they won’t even have someone else do so. What pisses me off most is that there wasn’t any warning and/or announcement, Damn, I wish there was a way we can talk to the decision makers, sign a petition, or something. I just don’t get it.
I’ve reached out to CONMEBOL and FOX Sports to ask for a comment and neither of them have gotten back to me. I agree Aldo, it’s a mess. Sorry!
I can understand why they aren’t showing it on the main channels, the ratings were beyond crap in English and Spanish. People keep saying sell the rights but I doubt anyone would want them, Univision and Telemundo certainly won’t without Liga MX clubs, no English language will either. Right or wrong there is not much interest in it besides a few of us soccer nerds on sites like this. That said they should at least just throw it on Fox Sports Go or Fox Soccer
Hello Mr. Harris,
Now that Group Play will end this week and the draw for the Knockout Rounds will be on Friday (I think), I was hoping that you had received any feedback from CONMEBOL, FoxSports, or your contact about broadcasting/stresming the remaining games?
Is there anyone we can email in Fox so we can pressure to get the Copa Libertadores back on TV, I believe that if everyone email, text or call they will get it back.
Any way to watch Recopa Sudamericana (Atletico Nacional vs Chapecoense) tomorrow? I have FuboTV but they are not showing it. I am in NYC- do you think any of the Latin bars would stream the games? Thanks.
CONMEBOL made a huge mistake by kicking Liga MX clubs out of Copa Libertadores.
FYI:
Argentina, with a population of 43 million, is only the 3rd most lucrative Spanish-speaking market in the Americas.
Colombia, with a populaton of 48 million, is the 4th most lucrative.
Mexico, with a population of 127 million, is the 2nd most lucrative.
Guess which market is the most lucrative Spanish-speaking TV market in the Americas?
Hint: CONMEBOL will need Liga MX clubs to play in Libertadores in order to access the most lucrative Spanish-speaking market in the Americas.
Brother, what are talking about? There’s no reason to have Mexicans clubs play Copa Libertadores. They are already part of another competition in their geographical location. Just because they have a lot of viewers in central and north America it didn’t mean that we, the fans of Libertadores wants to see MX clubs play in a region of competition that they don’t belong. And where would it end? I don’t know. But since they are SO popular, FIFA should just let them play wherever they see fit. Start them off in the European championships and see how that works out, FOX and all the powers to be should stop bending over backwards for MX clubs here in the US. They are not the only Latin country living in the US!
I disagree. Having Mexican teams in the Libertadores is cool. Unfortunately, Mexico now has the Copa MX on top of the league and Concachampions, so their calendar got too busy.
Excellent and clear point Oliver Tse. Why would any business corporation invest MILLIONS on a venture that proves to not have any profit potential.?! I am as frustrated as anyone who wishes to watch the Copa Libertadores, but unless you demonstrate a good investment rationale, its not going to happen.
It’s a disgrace not to have Libertadores or any other Latin America soccer competition just because MX clubs are not part of them!
Are there any channels that I can watch in England? Thanks for any help!
I don’t think it’s available on television in the UK, but you can stream the games from England via http://fntz.co/WST (Fanatiz is a legal streaming service that offers a 14-day free trial).
Hi! Do you know if there is any chance to watch Libertadores 2018 Quarter Finals in the US? Does Fox 2 go have the rights?
The games will be on Fanatiz: http://fntz.co/WST
Is there any other channels offering the final? Other than Fanatiz.
As of writing, the games will only be streamed live on Fanatiz. We’ve reached out to FOX Deportes but they haven’t decided whether they’ll show the games or not yet.
Laguna mentioned the final being on FOX Deportes last night during the MLS broadcast. I just looked at the guide and there is a slot of 3:00-6:00 pm that says TBA.
Will the Copa Libertadores be televised on FOX Deportes today, Nov 24, 2018? At what time? We are on the West Coast.
It’s estimated to begin at 2:15pm PT / 5:15pm ET.
Fox will show the Copa Final from Madrid (if both teams show up!) on Fox Deportes. Why not in English too? Don’t they still hold the US rights in English?
Correct, FOX has the English-language rights to the game too. Hopefully they’ll come to their senses and will show it in English too.
Is it confirmed that the game will be on Telemundo? I live in Dallas and the Telemundo channel I have is the KXTX-DT. Is that the one that will show the final? I have Fanatiz, but I’d rather see the game through my rabbit ears instead of through the streaming service.
Yes, Telemundo has confirmed that the game will air on their channel as well as FOX Deportes.
Who has the rights for copa libertadores this 2019?
Bein Sports
This is kind of confusing. The article says that the Copa will be shown on beIN SPORTS but it has not shown up in their listings for tonight. Will this not be shown on regular beIN (in English)?
Our listings show that it’ll be on beIN SPORTS and beIN SPORTS en Español.
We often update our TV listings more quickly than beIN SPORTS themselves do on their website and programming guides.
That’s great news.. I hated fox when they broadcast in English. Sometimes there’s a narrator but no commentators…. I’m done with fox match pass
This is great news to me. Thanks
Seems like Boca and River will play in the semis.. Yoohoo! Clasico Argentino in semis… What are the the potential dates for this games? Do you know? Thank you in advanced
Btw, There are conflicting dates online: Some sites state that semis first leg is expected on Sept 24-25-26 others state Oct 1-2-3… Which on is it? Thank you again.. I want to know so I can request off the next day.. I’m gonna party hardy watching the CLASICO and it requires a day off… 🙂
