With the US media rights for the UEFA Champions League having changed hands, we say goodbye to FOX Sports and ESPN Deportes’s coverage of the world’s greatest soccer club competition and hello to TNT and Univision Deportes who are preparing for their first-ever broadcasts of the UEFA Champions League group stage. Univision to air twice as many Champions League games on TV than TNT

Univision has announced their coverage plans for the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League that will include 97 games shown live on television, which compares to Turner’s 46 games that’ll air on TNT. The substantial number of games to be aired on TV by Univision also carries over to the Europa League. Beginning in September, Univision Deportes will air more than 70 Europa League games live on UDN, UniMás and Galavisión compared to just one Europa League game on TNT (the final). DISH and Univision enter dispute; Soccer-related channels go off-air

DISH satellite and Sling TV subscribers who are soccer fans will notice that several Univision channels are no longer available as of Saturday due to a carriage dispute between Univision and DISH, the parent company of Sling TV. DishLATINO and DISH customers are unable to access three of its channels: Univision and UniMás (including local affiliates), and Galavisión. If you’re wondering why the World Cup isn’t on Univision, there’s a good reason for that. The popular Spanish-language broadcaster lost the rights to Telemundo Deportes. Beginning with the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Telemundo Deportes and Universo will broadcast the World Cup in Spanish-language to viewers in the United States. Chivas dropped by Univision from summer 2019 onwards, says source

Liga MX club Chivas will no longer be televised on Univision after the summer of 2019 when the current TV deal ends, according to a source that’s close to the deal. The news came as a surprise to CD Guadalajara. Univision Deportes delivered a massive viewing number for Saturday night’s Superclásico between Chivas and América on Spanish-language television in the United States. The high-stakes matchup between América and Guadalajara averaged 2.5 million viewers on the Univision Network, with simulcast on Univision Deportes Network, and was the top-rated soccer event on any network year-to-date, regardless of language.
