GolTV adds Portuguese Cup to its soccer coverage lineup

Taça de Portugal, also known as the Portuguese Cup, will now be available to viewers on the US sports network GolTV through until the end of the 2015-16 season. GolTV has added the prestigious Portuguese competition soon after announcing a deal to broadcast the Scottish Cup. GolTV acquires Scottish Cup TV rights through 2015-16 season

US TV network GolTV has acquired rights to air Scottish Cup matches effective immediately.  The bilingual soccer network will start by broadcasting the upcoming semi-finals of the prestigious Scottish competition on April 18 when Hibernian faces off against Falkirk, and one day later with Inverness CT playing Scottish giants Celtic. Celtic will look to win their record 37th Scottish Cup in May. Along with Rangers’ 33 Cup victories, no other club in the country has more than 10 Scottish Cups (Queen’s Park). AT&T U-Verse Removes GolTV From Sports Tier Package

Soccer fans who are subscribers to AT&T U-Verse, take note. GolTV has been removed from the sports tier package, and has been moved to the Latino package instead. The move, which is certainly not going to please soccer fans, means that many subscribers will miss out on GolTV’s coverage of the Bundesliga, Eredivisie, Super Clasico and international matches. AT&T U-Verse originally added GolTV in 2006. However, the launch of beIN SPORT last year has forced many TV providers to prioritize beIN SPORT, which has rights to more major leagues, over GolTV.

GolTV Adds Eredivisie to Its Lineup: Will Begin Broadcasting On Aug. 2

GolTV will begin televising the 2013-14 season of Eredivisie, the Dutch national soccer league, on August 2. The Miami-based soccer network will share the US media rights to the Dutch top flight league with ESPN. As of press time, ESPN — the self-proclaimed Worldwide Leader of Sports — begins its coverage of Eredivisie on August 11, while GolTV is set to kick off their coverage on August 2 with the season opener between Ajax against Roda JC Kerkrade.
