Rangers turmoil won’t distract Celtic – Rodgers

Glasgow (AFP) – Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers insists the uncertainty at bitter rivals Rangers will not affect them in Sunday’s Old Firm derby at Parkhead. Rangers have been in turmoil on and off the pitch in recent weeks since Mark Warburton and his backroom team departed Ibrox last month. Graeme Murty was placed in interim charge and has recorded three wins and two defeats in his five games. The Under-20s coach is likely to continue in the dugout for the fourth Old Firm derby of the season. That is despite Portuguese coach Pedro Caixinha looking set to take the job ... Read more

Glasgow (AFP) – Arch-rivals Celtic and Rangers will meet in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup next month, with holders Hibernian drawn against Aberdeen. Celtic, the Scottish champions-elect, have already beaten fellow Glasgow giants Rangers three times this season but lost to them in an Old Firm clash at the same stage of the Scottish Cup last term, with the Gers then in the second-tier Championship. That penalty shoot-out loss, following a 2-2 draw, played a major part in ending Ronnie Deila’s time as manager of the Hoops, with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers now in charge at Parkhead. Glasgow (AFP) – Celtic extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 27 points as they eased to a 4-0 victory at bottom of the table Inverness Caledonian Thistle. A superb strike from Scott Sinclair fired Celtic in front just before the break before a horrendous mistake from Inverness goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams allowed in-form French striker Moussa Dembele to make it 2-0 just 11 seconds into the second half.
