It’s an absolute travesty Der Klassiker between Munich and Dortmund is on FS2.
I agree.
I LIKE TO PRINT THE BUNDESLIGA SCHEDULE,. BUT THE PRINT IS SO SMALL
THAT IT’S VERY! HARD TO READ. ANY SOLUTION? tHANKS
Get a magnifying glass
How can I print the Bundesliga Schedule only
If it doesn’t work to print on your computer, copy the content into Microsoft Word and print it from there.
Gaffer,
Am I mistaken believing that Fox’s soccer coverage of Bundesliga matches uses announcers who are not at the matches? I’m watching Hoffenhiem v. Hamburg and it just sounds as if the announcers are in distant studio somewhere. I know ESPN used to do this all the time, but I was hoping this was a thing of the past.
Just wondering.
FOX Sports has been mixing up their commentating options. Some weeks they’ve included the feed from the UK announcers (I believe BT Sports). Other weeks they’ve used the English-language world-feed. But more recently they’ve been using their own announcers such as Keith Costigan, Brad Friedel, etc. So, for most of the games, the announcers are calling it off a TV.
Thanks for the update. I guess what always troubled me about announcers watching a match on tv and broadcasting is that they see the same things I see; whereas announcers at the grounds see other aspects of the matches developing off-camera, which may add a great deal to the broadcast.
I really hoped this type of announcing was from a bygone era. However, I guess there must be some rationale (financial, perhaps?) for Fox to use their own announcers in Los Angeles. Sadly, off-site announcers tend to offer so little, I end up watching the matches on mute.
FOX Sports used Los Angeles-based announcers to call Hoffenheim vs Hamburg “off tube”. Ross Dyer and Keith Costigan.
FOX Sports is using “low profile” soccer match telecasts (such as UEFA Europa League, Bundesliga, and women’s friendlies, all of which draw 100,000 viewers or fewer) to develop announcers and production personnel.
That’s what FOX Sports should be doing as it needs to have 4-5 good announcing teams for World Cup Russia 2018. Right now, FOX Sports really only has one good U.S.-based announcing team: John Strong and Alexi Lalas.
One “good” thing about Bundesliga coverage in Spanish:
Now that Chicharito is playing regularly for Bayer Leverkusen, FOX Deportes appears to me to have restructured its sublicense agreement with GOLTV.
Instead of alternating “1st pick” each week so that FOX Deportes and GOLTV would alternate having Bayern Munich, FOX Deportes has repossessed the “1st pick” EVERY WEEK so that it can air Bayer Leverkusen matches (with John Laguna and Mariano Trujillo calling the matches, usually from Los Angeles with the exception of last week when FOX Deportes sent them to Europe for a week.)
That means GOLTV can air Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund matches almost every week.
anyone know where I can catch some 2. Bundesliga action? Is there a streaming option available? I would think FOX acquired these rights as well as the first division, however I would not be surprised if they decided not to broadcast even as an online option since viewership would be quite poor. Any help would be appreciated.
None of the 2. Bundesliga matches are being broadcast on TV or online in the States, unfortunately.
How come Bayern Munich Vs FC Shalke is on Fox Soccer plus ??? Or GolTV??? When they usually show them on FS1 or at least FS2 ???
stinks because I don’t have neither of those channels
I’m assuming they got bumped out of the slot because of College Football?
Anyone else feel the same ?
FS1 is showing college football, and FS2 is showing auto racing, so FOX bumped the game to FOX Soccer Plus. The only option where you can guarantee that you’ll be able to watch every Bundesliga game is on FOX Soccer 2GO.
Hey Chris,
Is Fox Soccer to go an App? And if so I assume it’s an extra charge ?
FOX Soccer 2GO is an app and online service. It’s $19.95 per month. Here’s more info http://www.foxsoccer.tv/?WT.mc_id=AFF_EPLTALK
Thanks buddy
I’m looking at the schedule above for Bayern Munich and the next few games aren’t on FS1 or FS2…even the Champions League game.
what’s up with that ?
It’s the busy time of the year for college football. And unfortunately the Bundesliga is a lesser priority for FOX this time of the year.
Yea I can see why. It’s all for the ratings and right now Bundesliga ratings aren’t close to College Football.
I’m surprised that they won’t even show Bayern Munich games with all the star power on that team.
What I find interesting is this is the first weekend where the Bayern game got bumped off of FS1 and 2.
Sucks
Anyone else hoping the football gods bring us a “healthy” Bayern Munich vs a “healthy” Barcelona Champions League Final?
And I don’t wanna hear about last year. This year’s outcome will be totally different.
There is a lot of German Bundisliga fans out there,it was great watching German Soccer on fox sports 1 and 2 but as usual something good for the soccer fans does not last, so to make some more money or a way to make some extra bucks, they do not broadcast these games on fox 1 or fox 2 they are now braodcasting fox sports 2go for a payment of $19.99 a month .I am not paying 19.99 a month I will be watching free live streaming Bundisliga on my computer.so take your program and shove it.
Yes, it is a pitty that NASCAR racing and not even live events take priority over Live Bundesliga matches.
It was great while it lasted with Bundesliga matches on the generally available FS1after the College Football season was over but now NASCAR is taking its place. Ridiculous!
How good do the BPL fans have it on NBC and its affiliate channels showing every game live!
I hope FOX realizes and may do something about it and offer more Bundesliga coverage but unfortunately it is all about the money not about the football itself ?
I have Comcast and they don’t carry FS2 here in the Bay Area. That makes it even more frustrating as I don’t get to see many other games such as Europa League and many other CL games. I’ve e-mailed Comcast about FS2 steadily for over a year and no change.
I have the sports and entertainment package (extra cost) so Comcast should have FS2 and Goltv in that package. After all Comcast customers pay extra for the package so all football/soccer channels should be carried/included in the package.
I also learned that Fox has the rights to this year’s Copa American. I have a feeling that most of the games will be on FS2. Just not right for them to be able to do that. I hope regular Univision or Telemundo have the spanish rights.
For Bundesliga I would be happy if Fox would show replays on FS1 in the evening when they show useless talk show programing.
This is helpful, thanks. Too many games on FS2 which Comcast (still) does not offer in most markets. Bundesliga is a tremendous product, but Fox’s coverage pales in comparison with what NBC is doing with the EPL. It’s too bad, b/c soccer is finally, truly, growing viewership in the States and the Bundesliga is missing out on converting boatloads of new fans (a la the EPL) due to a poor broadcast partner. Step up, Fox!
Glad we can view Bundesliga games and like “Hockey Night in Canada” promote “Bundesliga Saturday Mornings.” A cup of joe and great soccer start the weekend right. Also use more Brit announcers on site and pre, half-time and post-game with theFox Team.
It was nice to see Chelsea and Werder Bremen on CBS Sports Net. Does World Soccer Talk know if CBS Sports Net plans on continuing to air professional soccer after the handful of preseason matches they have scheduled? It was a very bare bones telecast–no pregame show or studio analysis–but hopefully this is a sign that another US media group is interested in televising soccer.
CBS Sports Network broadcasts NASL games. They also have 2 more friendlies that they’re broadcasting this week (involving German teams). That’s it, for now.
On what channels will the German cup final 2017 between Dortmund and Frankfurt be shown?
As of right now, the game will only be shown live on ESPN3.com but will be shown live later in the day on ESPN Deportes on tape delay.
Jul 6 2017
Fox is making a huge mistake as far as I am concerned. I have no interest in college football but love the German soccer matches. Just thought I would mention that I am a senior citizen and a female located in Georgia USA
Hi, Is it true that Dortmund will be coming to the United States? Any info on when they will be playing at Soldier Field in Chicago?
Yes, that’s the rumor. We have it listed at http://worldsoccertalk.com/schedule-of-soccer-friendlies-in-us-this-summer/
No confirmation yet regarding date or tickets.
Thanks, if this match were to happen generally how much in advance are matches announced?
An educated guess based on previous announcements from other clubs, we should hear something official by April of 2018.
Any sneak-peak info about Dortmund playing in the U.S.?
This is what we have so far – http://worldsoccertalk.com/schedule-of-soccer-friendlies-in-us-this-summer/
Keep up the good work!
Any way to stream upcoming Bundesliga season with German commentary in USA?
Is there a way to get a german-language feed of Bundesliga games? I don’t mind paying but it seems I’m stuck with Fox
Really want to get into bundesliga. Fox picture on some games downright dreadful. This morning Mainz game was unwatchable through xfinity. Dortmund game looks a bit better
Early 9/30 game on Fox 1 not listed: Hamburg, St. Pauli.
I want to say how invaluable this site is.. I found it through your podcast. All-in- one-night-place watchers’ guide is great, breakdown of services is unique and solid. You are my main reference all week long, here, on Podbean, and on Twitter.
Much appreciated.
Not going to lie, Hamburg St. Pauli from the Zweite Bundesliga on FS1 on a Sunday morning is neat…local derby and all.
Plus, a lot of articles have been written about the supporters of St. Pauli in the last few years…
Where can I find listings for friendlies like US v Columbia? Thanks
GJ, it’s on the homepage as well as the MLS page at http://worldsoccertalk.com/mls-tv-schedule/
Thanks again. Great site, BTW.
Chris; you missed adding to the schedule: Monday February 18th – FC Nürnberg- Borussia Dortmund on FS1 at 2:30p ET (11:30 am PT).
An excellent game of football today at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
Fc Bayern Munchen 5-4 FC Heidenheim. What is wrong with FC Bayern receiving 4 goals at home from a 2nd division club. I thought FC Heidenheim would win. It would have been the last day for Niko Kovac at the club in my opinion.
Thanks to ESPN for putting the game on TV although Adrian Healy and Kasey Keller are not the best pair of commentators. It was James Thorogood on the world feed.
An equally excellent game at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on ESPN3. FC Schalke 04 vs SV Werder Bremen. The roof at the stadium was closed. Two impressive goals for Bremen by Milot Rashica and Davy Klassen. It was Rob Turner and Steffen Freund for commentary on the world feed.
How does Fox handle simultaneous final matches for the Bundesliga? will the big 2 matches be on Fox and FS1?
Yup.
Just a thought: Wouldn’t on the eve of the season starting would Fox and/or Bundesliga put a statement out stating whether the current deal would be extended or whether they would part ways? There is a month remaining, is it too early? It seems Fox is just finishing up all their soccer contracts that aren’t US Soccer (UEFA, etc) and focusing on other possibilities. Nothing wrong with that, just wondering usually how soon do companies announce anything on the last year of a tv deal?
We should know by the end of the year. Bundesliga has already started discussions with broadcasters about the next rights deal. Ultimately, it’ll be the Bundesliga’s decision to make who will be the best partner for them for the 2020/21 season onwards in the United States.
Ok Thank you
According to SB Nation, this upcoming season (2019-20) will be the last FOX’s Bundesliga season as ESPN bought the rights from FOX for the 2020-21 season. The Bundesliga on ESPN deal helps improve the viewership of the league. In the 2020-21 season, the vast majority of matches will be on ESPN+, but the possibilities of some matches will be on linear ESPN networks. So goodbye Bundesliga on FOX. The 2019-20 season will be the last for FOX to broadcast the Bundesliga.
I’m not a bot. I just letting some of Bundesliga viewers that ESPN will be broadcasting the 2020-21 season of Bundesliga.
Not confirmed by ESPN yet but we’re keeping an eye on the developments and will let everyone know once confirmed.
What about Univision
Do they lose their rights?
I hope CBS replace Fox for Bundesliga rights.
Chris – I’m surprised you didn’t post anything on World Soccer Talk today about the DFB Cup. A 3rd division club Wurzburger Kickers played Hoffenheim from the Bundesliga. I was watching the whole game on ESPN3. It finished 3-3 AET went to penalties/sudden death. Final score 4-5 Darek Rae was the commentator, on location.
Thanks for making me aware of it. There was so much soccer on yesterday that it was hard to cover all of the major talking points.
Wow, If this is confirmed by ESPN, what a shocker. From GOLTV which sublicensed some games to ESPN3 to Fox Sports to ESPN+ ? It’s quite a journey for the Bundesliga. The league does not belong behind a paywall. BTW, The New York Post is also reporting this news. If true, I have so many questions, I don’t know where to begin.
“The Bundesliga on ESPN deal helps improve the viewership of the league.” No, not really. Unless you have streaming (espn+) which requires High Speed Internet & DSL is not fast enough to be able to watch espn+, many people won’t get to watch Bundesliga. Non millenniums still like to watch sports on TV and have cable or SAT.
Regarding that espn might show some matches on their linear networks (TV), hoping it’s not like what they do for Serie A games – only showing the 3 am West Coast Time games, Plus when espn does show Serie A games on TV, it’s usually lower table team/games. While I have my issues with Fox on the poor job they do with Bundesliga, at least it’s available via TV (non streaming). I’m hoping espn puts quite a few games on espn Deportes. That would be okay.
The writing was always in on the wall. Christopher and Kartik kind of gave us a forewarning about this last year during their podcast that FOX wasn’t going to renew, When the deal with FOX was announced on October 14 2013 paid roughly $110m yr for the rights to Bundesliga.
http://www.sportspromedia.com/news/bundesliga_to_double_international_rights_fees_with_fox_deal.
FOX got Bundesliga as a answer to EPL on NBC the project failed miserably partly because of FOX but mostly due to the natural lack of an Bundesliga TV audience. You didn’t have to be a rocket.
This was simply a business move akin to a company laying off or closing a non-performing division.
ESPN already has the German Cup games to stream, so it definitely makes sense. I’m glad that ESPN will get Bundesliga: If Fox didn’t care to keep it (as it seems to be the case with all the leagues they have let go) then at least it goes somewhere you will have 1080P 60 FPS in perfect video quality and a recognized brand. Similar Serie A concept would work great. Fox never really promoted Bundesliga well enough at all, and though it is unfortunate that you will now have hardly any games on television (based on the reports) at least Bundesliga feels it is worthwhile for them and vice versa. ESPN + is killing it right now.
Many people don’t do streaming or can’t because they may only have DSL (to slow for streaming). At least if ESPN put the Bundesliga games on ESPN Deportes and/or on ESPN3 (DSL works okay for ESPN3) that would be good.
I’m just not a steaming service person. I have cable and not paying extra to watch and get other services.
FOX did promote Bundesliga, ………. IF you watching live Bundesliga match.
With the abominations that are BR, ESPN Plus, and the NBC platforms, we have officially entered the world of almost no football on regular tv.
How is this good in anyone’s universe?
TV in general is moving this way. The best TV shows are not on broadcast TV. The good news is that high-speed Internet + streaming is far cheaper than cable or satellite.. A streaming service I can get directly is better than a cable channel I may or may not have.. True, it does suck for those who don’t have access to high-speed internet.
Let them try and put the NE Patriots or Dallas Cowboys on some paid online platform, let me know how that works out.
Soccer/football is supposedly a niche sport with “hard core” following that is being perceived as a cash cow by the netwroks, ergo, the massive paywall push.
Thankfully, there are solutions to everything. They want to see me as a cash cow, I find other ways to watch the games i want to watch. Let’s see who wins that one…
Exactly, they may make money in the short term, but at the expense of gaining new fans. These services are only preaching the the choir of people who are already fans. At some point even many of those may stop watching.
Take Europa League for example. If not for Univision I wouldn’t have watched any last year, Wasn’t something I would’ve cared enough to subscribe to B/R to see. Watched much more of it when on Fox.
Became a casual viewer of Bundesliga on Fox, and will likely still be casual on Plus if it moves there, but only if I’m already on the service to watch Serie A and live matches running at some point during that window, won’t seek it out.
Then there’s the whole issue that on streaming you don’t have these on at bars or restaurants. If people want to go to eat during a match have to choose between missing a match or staying home….could see going out winning out in situations when the match isn’t marquee.
Another impressive day in the DFB Cup. VFL Osnabruck promoted to the 2nd division this past season played RB Leipzig. Final score 2-3 The commentator was Chris Sharples.
The second game of the day was SV Wehen Wiesbaden also promoted to the 2nd division played
1. Fc Koln promoted to the Bundesliga. The game ended 3-3 AET, went to penalties, Final score 5-6
Both games were streaming on ESPN3. The commentator was Darek Rae. He was also a commentator yesterday for Wurzburg vs Hoffenheim as I wrote about it above. I watched all the games from the DFB Cup this weekend. 2 more games on Monday.
Chris, I think Leipzig is playing Bayern tomorrow, not Werder.
You’re correct. RB Leipzig v. FC Bayern Munchen at 12:30PM on FS2 with Derek Rae and Mark Schwarzer doing commentary.
Union Berlin is hosting Werder Bremen at 9:30AM on FS Plus with my favorite commentator in the world Garry Preston.
Garry Preston is a lot of fun to listen to. The man clearly enjoys life (and Bundesliga football).
You’re missing the Werder Bremen v Schalke match on 11/23.
