Chelsea favorites to land Neymar if Brazilian departs PSG

Chelsea are now the most likely spot for Neymar in what shapes up to be significant change at PSG.

Paris Saint Germain is actively looking to find a new home for the Brazilian star. With Kylian Mbappé staying on, and Luis Campos taking over the sporting director role at the club, there is change in progress.

If that sounds surprising, it probably should. Recently, Neymar turned down Newcastle United just to renew his contract at PSG. Moreover, Neymar said he wants to stay at PSG despite the uncertainty over his future. However, the previous sporting director, Leonardo, is Brazilian and gave Neymar some strength in positioning at the club. Luis Campos is closer with Kylian Mbappé, and Neymar does not have as much of a say.

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Neymar’s over-$700-thousand per week contract renews automatically until 2027. That contract triggers on July 1. Therefore, we see some of the transfer speculation surrounding the star rising.

Enter Chelsea. After Romelu Lukaku failed to live up to his Inter Milan level of play at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian is set to return to Italy. Plus, creativity is something scarce from last season’s front three. Kai Havertz and Timo Werner are the only two options that truly look set in stone to be at Chelsea next season.
