EPL Commentator Schedule

Gameweek 6 in England means we know the EPL commentator schedule for NBC’s coverage.

Currently, there are three teams at the top of the table with 13 points after five games. Chelsea leads the pack based on goal differential. Then, Liverpool and Manchester United occupy the second and third spots, respectively.

Chelsea’s four wins and one draw is especially impressive. The draw came on the road at Liverpool, playing down a man for the entire second half. They won last weekend on the road at Tottenham, 3-0, with a 2-0 demolition at Arsenal coming in their second fixture.

The road does not get smoother. Chelsea hosts defending Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday morning. City’s crosstown rivals host Aston Villa Saturday morning, looking for a third straight Premier League win.

Interestingly, the Manchester United game against Aston Villa will have a special guest on the mic. The EPL commentator schedule differs slightly this week with Andres Cantor calling that game in English. It will be Cantor’s first time calling a game in English, with Robbie Earle joining the Argentina-born legend.

There are just two games scheduled  on Sunday. The 203rd North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham highlights Sunday’s action. Arsenal come into the game winning four of their last five in all competitions. Contrarily, Tottenham dropped their last two Premier League contests after starting with three wins from three.

Later, on Monday, Crystal Palace hosts Brighton to close out the gameweek.

Premier League Mornings get your days started at 7 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Next, Premier League Live and Goal Zone keep you up to date on the happenings in between games. Tim Howard and Danny Higginbotham join Rebecca Lowe behind the desk over the weekend. Ahmed Fareed takes over for Monday’s studio shows.

Ra, I did not know it started in Brazil. They embedded Cantor’s video lol. That’s why I say it is synonym with spanish and portuguese lang commentators. Everyone does it. Thanks for the article and the cuhnowledge lesson.

@lovofooty It was invented in the 40s by a Brazilian radio narrator called Rebello Junior

It can’t be a rip off when that’s the way of calling a goal in spanish. To drag it out. Some do it more than others, but I don’t think anyone can claim property over the call. I’ve heard so many ‘relatores’ over the years make the goal call to say only one owns it.

Andres Cantor is so annoying. His call for goals is a rip off of another Hispanic announcer and pronunciation is so over the top. He also only focuses on players from South America.

I was wondering what would happen to all the vMVPDs who show the NBCSN and when it gets shut down and the USA Network comes into play. I have yet to see anything that points towards a plan for how the EPL will be broadcast Jan 2022. However regarding vMVPDs I found an interesting quote from July 2021:
“Virtual MVPDs lost about 240,000 subscribers in Q1, according to MoffettNathanson, compared to a loss of about 374,000 customers in the prior year, as gains at fuboTV (about 43,000) and YouTube TV weren’t enough to offset losses at other providers. Still, while some pundits said the losses were a sign that the vMVPD space was headed for more declines, MoffettNathanson said the falloff was an indication of the growing seasonality of the business.”
Sporting events are seasonal lets see what happens after Dec 31st 2021 especially since the EPL was taken by surprise with the shutdown announcement. So, the elimination of the excvlusive part makes for hope of streaming all on Peacock, I am OK with that and many others here as well.

  6. ComCRAPtic

    September 25, 2021 at 9:47 pm

Once NBCSN shuts down on December 31 at 11:59pm ET, the contract ComCRAP signed with the MVPDs (cable, satellite, streaming bundles such as DIRECTV Stream, Sling & FuboTV) which guarantees up to 6 exclusive EPL games on NBCSN (with no streaming on Peacock Premium allowed) goes away.

In January 2022, ComCRAP should be able to put EVERY EPL match on Peacock Premium because the contract ComCRAP signed with MVPDs do NOT have an exclusive guarantee for EPL matches placed on USA Network.

Yeah, I heard him in the late match. Guess he didn’t call enough goals in the early one lol.

Not sure who gets the prize of being the most painful to listen to: Arlo White or Andres Cantor

One is a captain-obvious who just can’t stop talking while the other is doing commentary in the wrong language

Andres Cantor . . .why NBC, why?

  10. Ra

    September 25, 2021 at 10:56 am

@Hans. Same here, don’t even bother to check where to find the games as I know that 100% are on Star+. But their lack of coherence did not go unnoticed.

    September 25, 2021 at 10:47 am

Well you get the ideas while Comscum is an appropriate name for the parent of NBC. We have 10 games over the weekend plus Monday and 6 are on NBCSN, you get the idea while the rights got to go or they change the allocation to streaming and OTA for me I use alternative sources.

NBC Sports should give fans the option of the IMG/World feed for commentary. Why is Andres Cantor commentating in English? This is not an internship. If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

    September 25, 2021 at 7:59 am

What about NBC and USA channel? It is this lack of coherence that makes NBC so amateurish.

Best news this week… This season…
Arlo ” The Human Brain Leak” White is not on Chelsea v City..
How on earth did that happen?

I can actually watch an important game with the sound UP….

So disappointing not to have the NBC game this week! Or at least a Peacock simulcast of the NBCSN broadcast…

Sorry to see that Brentford v Liverpool isn’t on the main NBC. Must be due to the Ryder Cup.

Damn, no Cantor on Saturday for Universo then. First time calling an EPL match in English since he’s already done english comm for the Olympics.

Andres Cantor getting a game is an interesting decision to say the least
