The FA Community Shield produced 1 goal with ”super” stars playing. I was watching FC Magdeburg vs FC St Pauli in the German Cup which was a 5 goal thriller, nonstop action from end to end, never a dull moment. It kicked off 30 minutes later at 12:30PM ET on ESPN3 with Phil Bonney doing commentary. Ian Joy is a happy man today as his former club FC St Pauli won 3-2. Phil Bonney mentioned Ian Joy in commentary, his playing career and the days they commentated together for the Bundesliga world feed. Please watch the replay or the highlights. You missed an awesome game.

The best pair of commentators, hands down, is Phil Schoen and Ray Hudson calling any football/soccer match!? Twellman is good if he leaves, or, his personal playing days!! Ever since his playing days career ending injury, he tends to get emotional when a player seemed to have a similar accident as his, when, thankfully, it wasn’t; and I get him though, fighting for player protection!

We can all like/hate whoever we want as announcers. I’m thinking back to my childhood and listen to the great Jack Buck call St Louis Cardinals games and how great he was. Now his son Joe Buck is on every damn sport here in the good ole USA and I personally hate that guy. I know he got the job now because of how well he does but something in me just doesn’t feel right when I listing him. Is Twellman the worst or best around probably not but he does fit what I guess most people want. I personally like him but I can definitely see why most euro fans wouldn’t. I can drown out his nonsense when he decides to go on a 10 minute no break talking spree.

Unfortunately both Twellman and Higginbotham talk too much throughout the game which I feel can be exhausting to listen to. Higginbotham has a more controlled delivery, it feels like Twellman shouts at us; I don’t really like either of them.

@Don Freeman. Thank you for the grade school level opinion of Taylor Twellman, in which ESPN used him in the Euro 2020 for all the top matches. I guess you know what is quality more than ESPN does, or maybe you have some prejudice against American analysts? I sure hope not. As a fan – you could just say,, I don’t care for him as much as other analysts and explain why. Maybe then we can raise the intellect level of these comment posts.
