ESPN+ to stream this weekend’s Celtic-Rangers Old Firm Derby

ESPN has confirmed that this Saturday’s Old Firm Derby between Celtic and Rangers will be streamed live for viewers in the United States via ESPN+.

The first Old Firm derby of the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership season will kick off at 7:30AM ET live from Celtic Park in Glasgow. In the last Old Firm derby, Rangers won the match 2-1.

While the Scottish Premiership has lost some of the gloss of its glory years, there’s no doubt that the Old Firm derby is one of the world’s most famous and passionate derbies in world football.

In August, World Soccer Talk reported that the Scottish Professional Football League and ESPN+ were working out the final details of a five-year deal. Unfortunately we have no additional information to share at this time. It’s quite possible that Saturday’s match could be a one-off event until a deal is agreed and announced at some point in the future.

In addition to the Old Firm derby, ESPN+ streams the Bundesliga, Serie A, UEFA Nations League, Championship, League One, League Two, FA Cup, League Cup, MLS, Leagues Cup, US Open Cup, USL, International Champions Cup, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, Eredivisie, Danish Superliga, Chinese Super League, Indian Super League, Australian A-League, Sweden’s Allsvenskan, FA Community Shield.

The Glasgow Old Firm Derby is now officially Celtic v Partick Thistle. Rangers died and still have to pay the face painter and the old lady in the local shop for all the pies McCoist ate and never paid for.

Gerard – Celtic and Rangers are still very much referred to as the Old Firm. What you refer to is not official and was put out there by a section of Celtic supporters to damage the Rangers name. Officially, it’s still known as the Old Firm Derby.

A little nervous it’s not listed but surely WST wouldn’t promote this unless they were sure after last debacle so I do believe it’ll show up and with any luck it portends the future of SPFL on plus.

This is fantastic news for supporters in the US!

    No dodgy YouTube streams.

However, its no longer called the Old Firm. That ended when Rangers died in 2012. It’s now referred to the Glasgow Derby – Celtic FC (est. 1888) v Sevco Scotland (est. 2012)
