Aubameyang is great value in Premier League Golden Boot market

The race to win this season’s Premier League Golden Boot is expected to be another thriller, with plenty of top players harbouring genuine hopes of winning the prestigious prize.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finished top of the pile last time around, each netting 22 goals during the campaign.

Sergio Aguero finished one goal behind, although his tally was impacted by City boss Pep Guardiola rotating his forwards.

Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Eden Hazard were also not far adrift in what was a productive year for forward players.

Read on as we look at this season’s Golden Boot battle.

Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur

Injuries cost Kane his chance last season, although the Spurs striker still bagged an impressive 17-goal tally.

Many bookmakers’ new customer betting offers enhanced odds have boosted Kane’s price to 7/2 and plenty of punters will be eager to back the England star to win this time around.

He scored twice in Spurs’ season opener against Aston Villa and could be tough to beat if he can steer clear of injuries this term.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool

Salah notched 32 goals to claim the Golden Boot in 2017/18, but a barren spell at a crucial time left him sharing the prize last season.

The Liverpool forward kicked-off the current campaign with a goal against Norwich City and will undoubtedly be eager to finish first once again.

However, Salah looks a little short in the betting at around 4/1 and better value appears to lie elsewhere.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Arsenal

Aubameyang has been a prolific scorer throughout his career and he has continued in the same vein with Arsenal.

He scored 10 goals in 13 Premier League appearances during his first season with the club and added another 22 last term.

The 30-year-old grabbed a classy winner for the Gunners at Newcastle United on the opening weekend and he looks great value at 6/1 to win the Golden Boot outright this season.

Raheem Sterling – Manchester City

A hat-trick at West Ham United in City’s first game of the season was a sign that Sterling could be worth a look at odds of 6/1 to finish the campaign as top scorer.

Sterling’s finishing has improved massively over the past couple of years, but whether it will be enough to beat the likes of Kane, Salah and Aubameyang is debatable.

The England forward is also likely to suffer from Guardiola’s rotation policy amongst his forwards and his current price looks far too short.
