FS1’s first Liga MX game in English will be Xolos vs. Chivas

FOX Sports will broadcast their very first Liga MX game in English this Saturday night when Club Tijuana meets Chivas de Guadalajara in a game that will be shown live across FS1.

As first reported by World Soccer Talk in May, FOX Sports acquired the English-language and Spanish-language rights to the Club Tijuana home games in Liga MX and Copa MX.

With the new season of Liga MX scheduled to launch this Friday, the timing couldn’t be better for FOX given that the American broadcaster has lost the rights to the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup. With Liga MX having a track record of generating the most-watched soccer club games on US television, this should help boost FOX’s viewing numbers.

However, as of press time, FOX Sports hasn’t been publicizing that they will broadcast Saturday’s game at all. But we have confirmed that the match will indeed be televised on FS1. It’ll also be televised in Spanish-language on FOX Deportes.

Kickoff time is scheduled for 10pm ET/7am PT on Saturday, July 21.

Prior to acquiring the English- and Spanish-language rights to Xolos home games, Univision Deportes held the rights to the popular Liga MX club. Club Tijuana is so popular in southern California that many American soccer fans travel south of the border to adopt Xolos as their local team.

In addition to acquiring the rights to Club Tijuana (aka Xolos) games, FOX Sports has acquired more Liga MX rights. FOX Sports has the rights to Monterrey home games beginning this month as well as Santos Laguna home games beginning July 2019.
