FOX Sports has released a new promotional video to get sports fans excited for its coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
In the new commercial, which features the tagline “The World Becomes The World Cup,” FOX Sports features Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar to promote the broadcaster’s English-language coverage of the tournament.
While FOX Sports hasn’t released any details about its World Cup campaign, we can anticipate that Neymar-Ronaldo-Messi will be a key part of its advertising campaign as it attempts to drive interest in a tournament that doesn’t feature the United States for the first time since 1986.
The most impressive part of FOX’s World Cup TV commercial is the computer animation that turns a revolving planet Earth into the World Cup trophy. While that’s an eye-catching effect, the two aspects that bother me about the video are (1) it doesn’t mention the country hosting the World Cup in any way, and (2) the photo of Messi in the very beginning of the video makes it look like his head has been badly photoshopped onto his body. Still, this promotional video is better than the one FOX Sports did last year with its fake commentary.

Nothing epitomizes soccer like rap.
During the U.S.A vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina game, FOX did show a commercial of a montage of past World Cup moments. The main difference was they cut out the original commentators and put in their own dull FOX soccer commentators. Its kind of disrespectful when they try to make you think that John Strong was calling Zinedine Zidane matches in 1998. World Cup. And they did put in past USA moments which did happen but just makes US fans more sad/mad that USA will not be in russia this summer. 🙁
After digging around I found out this song was in Empire Season 2, The Lyon crys wolf, and then I dug a little deeper and found the youtube video.
