So the Fifa CLub World Cup wasn’t aired in English? Ridiculous.

FOX Soccer Match Pass has the FIFA Club World Cup in English, behind a pay wall. FOX got the rights basically for nothing (i.e. $1 in rights fee plus transmission cost) because no one else wants the rights.

Why wouldn’t this be for the whole month of December? Delay releasing it so you can get all the number for the whole month not stop a week before hand.

We usually release it on a weekly basis but with the holidays, we combined two weeks into one report.

2.4 million for the Liga MX final looks impressive but compared to the numbers of past Liga MX finals it’s actually quite disappointing. Especially because of the hype of Tigres and Rayados supposedly being the new “big” teams in Mexico. This final is the second least viewed Liga MX final in the past 5 years only above Queretaro-Santos from 2015.
Here are the numbers for the second leg of each Liga MX finals from the past 5 years:
Tijuana/Toluca Ap.12 – 2.9 million
America/Cruz Azul Cl.13 – 4.5 million
America/Leon Ap.13 – 3.5 million
Pachuca/Leon Cl14. 2.5 million (aired on UniMas)
America/Tigres Ap.14 – 3.0 million
Santos/Queretaro Cl.15 – 1.2 million (aired on Azteca and ESPN Deportes but no #s are available for ESPN Deportes)
Pumas/Tigres Ap.15 – 2.8 million
Monterrey/Pachuca Cl16. – 2.6 million
Tigres/America Ap.16 – 3.3 million
Chivas/Tigres Cl.17 – 2.8 million
Monterrey/Tigres Ap.17 – 2.4 million
I guess there wasn’t as much interest in the “Final de Rancho” in the US compared to other finals.

The MLS Cup final came 6th in it’s own country! That’s embarrassing. So much work to do for the MLS.

Liga MX remains the true tv ratings giant in the US…
The final games between Monterrey and Tigres were crazy, drama, quality football, they had it all…
I am an English speaker and enjoy Liga MX very much. I wish there was an article here and there on this blog about the most popular league in the United States…just a suggestion.
