ESPN’s presentation of UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 from The Netherlands will kick off Sunday, July 16, with the hosts facing off against Norway at Noon ET on ESPN3 and streaming live on the ESPN app. A second match from Group A will stream at 2:45 p.m. ET as Denmark takes on Belgium. All 31 matches of UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 will air live on the ESPN networks, with the group stage, quarterfinals and semifinals streaming on ESPN3 and the ESPN app, with the final airing from Enschede on ESPNU on Sunday, Aug. 6, and the trophy presentation immediately following the match.
The quadrennial tournament will feature three teams in the top five of FIFA’s rankings – defending UEFA champion Germany (#2), France (#3) and England (#5) – and eight teams from the top 15 in the rankings, and will include some of the top names in women’s soccer including Germany’s Anja Mittag and Dzsenifer Marozsan, France’s Camille Abily and Eugenie Le Sommer, England’s Karen Carney and Jill Scott, and Sweden’s Lotta Schelin.
ESPN’s news and information platforms will provide additional coverage including highlights, commentary and features across espnW.com, ESPN FC and ESPNFC.com. Also during the tournament, espnW will examine the state of European women’s soccer clubs, some of which recently welcomed U.S. Women’s National Team stars like Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd and more – why did they choose to go abroad now, and how will European soccer prepare them for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup? espnW’s Graham Hays will also provide an in-depth look at reigning UEFA champion Germany and the team’s prospects during the UEFA Women’s EURO and in the next World Cup.
