Despite suffering a 2-1 defeat away to Everton on Tuesday, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez scored yet another goal. The Chilean now has 14 total goals (12 in the Premier League) in just 22 appearances of the current campaign. Alexis is compiling these numbers mostly playing as a center forward for Arsenal, something that he has not done much in previous years with the Gunners.

While some, perhaps many, were not completely convinced that Alexis could make a somewhat seamless switch to the new center forward role, the 27-year-old has been brilliant. The Arsenal star has always produced on the pitch, but it seems as if this new position has heightened his level of play even further.

Entering the 2016/17 season, the Chile international had racked up an impressive 42 goals over his first two campaigns in north London. Averaging nearly a goal every other match is a lethal amount for any player, especially when previously playing out on the flank; however, Alexis is averaging a score every 132 minutes this season. He is also being more prolific in front of goal despite firing fewer shots per 90 minutes than either of his previous Premier League seasons with the Gunners.

Not only his Alexis scoring goals at a rapid pace, but he is also setting up his teammates as well. The striker’s five assists are third best in the Premier League, and is currently more than Christian Eriksen, Eden Hazard, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and his Arsenal teammate, Mesut Ozil.

Along with his goals and assists, Alexis also makes wonderful runs off of the ball and tracks back to help out defensively as well. The Chilean motors on the pitch like a brand new Lamborghini Huracan fresh off of the lot. When taking into account all of these attributes, there is no doubting just how special of a striker Alexis is. He is undoubtedly a world-class player.

Compared to other superstars, Alexis appears to hold his own.

Alexis is not only just performing well for his club, but he has turned Chile into a worldwide force as well.  The 5’7” forward has led his country to back-to-back Copa America titles, and was also awarded as the tournament’s best player in the 2016 competition.  Chile is currently ranked as the 4th best team in the world by FIFA.  The South American team rates higher than perennial powerhouses Belgium, France, and Spain.

Next in line for Alexis is to help lead Arsenal to a Premier League title.  While he did help the Gunners collect a Community Shield in his first competitive match with the club in 2014, and then hoisted the FA Cup at the end of the 2014/15 season, a Premier League title would be massive for both Alexis and his team.  Not only would the championship be the club’s first league title since 2004, but it could also help propel Alexis to legendary status.
