Univision’s coverage of Copa America Centenario has started with a flurry, reaching 21.2 million total viewers during the opening weekend, which outperformed the World Cup group stage by 14%, according to Univision Deportes.

So far this tournament, the Spanish-language sports broadcaster is averaging 2.9 million viewers per game.

Some of the select TV ratings for Copa America opening weekend matches include:

• Mexico vs. Uruguay: 5.1 million viewers (most-viewed soccer telecast since the Gold Cup final on any network, and out-delivered games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup finals on NBC & NBCSN)

• USA vs. Colombia: 3.9 million viewers (best ever for a Copa America opening match)

• Jamaica vs. Venezuela: 1.9 million viewers.

Univision Deportes is broadcasting all 32 matches, which will be broadcast across UDN, UniMás and Univision Network.
