Now, thanks to FOX Soccer 2GO, the streaming platform has the streaming rights to the competition for 2016. The competition kicked off on February 2 with 38 teams, and will continue through the second stage, Round of 16, quarterfinals and semi-finals until the final two teams will play in the final in two legs (on July 20 and July 27). The current holder of the competition is River Plate, who defeated UANL last summer.

Copa Libertadores is an annual international club soccer competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. It is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and the most prestigious club competition in Latin American soccer. The tournament is named in honor of the Libertadores (Spanish and Portuguese for liberators), the main leaders of the South American wars of independence, so a literal translation of its name into English would be “Liberators of America Cup.”

The 57th edition of the competition features many of the best club teams from Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay and other nations. Some of the teams participating include River Plate, Boca Juniors, Gremio, Sao Paulo, Gremio, Corinthians, Atletico Mineiro, Colo Colo, Deportivo Cali, Atletico Nacional, UNAM, Toluca, Nacional, Peńarol and Emelec.
