American international Jordan Morris has made the decision that he sees his future in America instead of Werder Bremen, according to a statement released by the Bundesliga club today.

Morris has been training with Werder Bremen during the past week, and made a positive impression on the club. However, despite the club believing that the player would be interested in joining the Bundesliga side, it appears that Morris wants to play in MLS.

Werder Bremen Sporting Director Thomas Eichen said:

“The player has made it clear after intensive discussions that he currently sees its future in America.

“Of course, we respect this decision. We’re in a situation now, where we need players who identify with Werder and the way things are done here completely, in order for them to focus properly on the task ahead. For this reason, we are distancing ourselves from a transfer for the time being, but we will remain in close contact with him and are entertaining the idea of working together in the future.”

It now looks very likely that Morris will be heading to Seattle Sounders where he has been offered a contract to play with the MLS club.
