Defender Tim Ream is expected to complete his move to QPR from Bolton on Thursday.

Rangers have agreed a fee of £1.4 million with Wanderers for the United States international and appear to have won the race for his signature ahead of London rivals Fulham, who had an approach turned down earlier this week.

The full-back, 27, has been Bolton’s player of the year for the past two seasons but manager Neil Lennon hopes to bring in two additions to his squad after freeing up some wages.

“There’s a deal been agreed with QPR,” said Lennon.

“I’m not sure it’s been concluded yet but I imagine it would be today.

“We’re looking to use some of the money to bring players in. It frees up a wage, we will look to use that and hopefully bring two players in before the weekend.

“He (Ream) is a good player and he’s been very consistent for us. When you adopt an approach with a deal like this you have to balance off – is it good for the squad and is it good for the club? We feel if we can get a couple of players in in certain areas it will improve the squad. Financially we’re getting a good fee for a player and maybe add-ons too depending on future success.

“We’ll be looking to bolster the defense and an attacking player, a pacey one if we can. We’re down the line with at least one and hopefully we’ll have one in before the weekend.”
