Sampdoria have released their new jerseys for the 2015-16 season and have included a small microchip in a limited number of jerseys, which plays soccer chants whenever the club crest is pressed.

“It is the first shirt to be technologically modified to encourage the fans when they need it,” explained shirt manufacturers Joma.

The chants were pre-recorded in the team’s home stadium, Stadio Luigi Ferraris, and are intended to help the supporters throughout trying moments of their day, as well as to remind players of the support that the fans are giving them.

“As the fans always encourage the supporters on every occasion, it’s only right that the team also encourages its fans in the most difficult moments,” said Joma.

A QR code will come with the purchase of the special jerseys, allowing fans to download exclusive content only available to the owners of the limited edition shirts. Previewing the release of the jerseys, Joma filmed a commercial detailing how the supportive message can help fans. Shown below, a fan is seen to be feeling self-conscious about his balding hair and when pressing on his jersey and hearing cheers of encouragement from his club, he begins to feel better.

Sampdoria have not announced the release date, but with the Serie A season beginning August 22, it is likely that we will see these jerseys released to the market soon.
