The World’s fourth best side Colombia will be standing in the way of Copa America favorites Argentina who are third in the FIFA rankings when both sides clash at the Estadio Sausalito in Viña del Mar, Chile on Thursday.

La Albiceleste were not very impressive in the group phase but they still managed seven points from the nine available. Bizarrely, their array of world class attackers managed only four goals.

Colombia on the other hand were largely disappointing with one loss, one draw and one win against Brazil which meant their route to the quarter-finals came via a third place finish.

With Radamel Falcao out of form, Colombia have struggled for goals which has subsequently led to calls for the installation of Porto’s Jackson Martinez as the first choice forward by a section of the supporters.

On the other hand, they can take solace in their really good defensive unit that has conceded just the one goal in over 270 minutes of football.

Argentina will be banking on their attacking unit led by Lionel Messi to make the difference for them but they won’t find it easy to break down the rigid defense of the Colombians.

Team News

Falcao may well be dropped for this one in favor of Jackson Martinez after a below-par performance in the last match but reports coming in appear to suggest otherwise.

For Argentina, Sergio Aguero is expected to return to the side ahead of Gonzalo Higuain after starting from the bench against Jamaica while Nicholas Otamendi is also expected back in the starting XI in place of Martin Demichelis.
