Swansea have announced the signing of St Etienne’s Franck Tabanou on a three-year contract.

The versatile former France Under-21 international, who can operate on the left side of defense or attack, becomes Swansea’s second summer signing following the capture of Ghana forward Andre Ayew on a free transfer from Marseille.

Swansea confirmed the arrival of Tabanou, who they tried to sign during the January transfer window, on the official club website and it is understood they will pay around £3.5million for the 26-year-old, who will primarily provide competition for Wales left-back Neil Taylor.

Tabanou made his professional debut at Toulouse, going on to make over 100 appearances for the club.

He was a first-team regular during the 2010-11 season, making 34 appearances and scoring four goals in Ligue 1.
His good form continued throughout the following two campaigns which alerted other clubs to his ability.

Of these clubs, St Etienne moved to secure the services of Tabanou, where he made 34 appearances – scoring three goals – in his first season at the French side as he helped them qualify for the Europa League play-off round following a fourth-place finish.
