Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto has issued a ‘come and get me’ plea to Atletico Madrid after reported interest from Diego Simeone’s side.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive debut season in Spain after leaving Racing Club to sign a five-year contract with Villarreal in August 2014. The young Argentine scored 20 goals in all competitions and helped the Yellow Submarine earn Europa League qualification.

Vietto has reportedly attracted interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool in recent months. However, it is Atletico Madrid who are the front runners to sign the former Racing Club player. What the Spanish side have in their advantage is the relationship between manager Diego Simeone and Vietto.

Simeone signed the young striker from Estudiantes while he was in charge of Racing Club and gave Vietto his senior debut in October 2011.

It now appears the talented Argentine, who has been tagged the ‘new Sergio Aguero’, wants to rejoin his former coach in the Spanish capital.

“I can’t assure anyone what will happen in the future,” Vietto told Radio Villarreal when asked about Atletico Madrid’s interest.

“If Atletico offer 20 million euros I’ll talk it through with my family and agent. We’ll try and come to the best decision, but I think everybody wins if they meet my buyout clause.”

However, despite issuing this ‘come and get me’ plea, Vietto refused to rule out remaining at Villarreal, where he is under contract until June 2019.

“Nothing has happened yet,” he added. “They’re just rumors and my head is at Villarreal, although nobody knows what might happen in the future.

“My aim is to be here when pre-season starts.”
