Manchester United have informed Real Madrid that they will not sell David de Gea this summer, according to the Spanish radio network Cadena COPE.

Last week, the Spanish newspaper Marca published a story claiming De Gea had agreed a deal worth around £4 million a year after tax, with a contract length between five and six years to join Real Madrid.

All that what said to be missing in order to make the transfer complete was an agreed fee between the two clubs.

However, speaking after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal, Louis van Gaal indicated that De Gea was still having a hard time deciding between the club which has showered him with support since his arrival in June 2011, and returning to Madrid where his family and girlfriend currently live.

Yesterday, Sky Sports Spanish football expert Guillem Balague confirmed Van Gaal’s statement and added that no agreement had been reached between De Gea and Real Madrid.

Now, Cadena COPE is reporting that United have informed Real Madrid they will not sell the goalkeeper under any circumstances this season.

According to the Spanish radio network, Madrid are preparing to move forward with plans to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who has always been their backup plan should negotiations for De Gea stall.

While De Gea has yet to agree to a new deal with United, it is understood the club has increased their offer up to £250,000-a-week in order to persuade the Spain international into staying in England.

Earlier this evening, De Gea attended Manchester United’s end of the seasons awards ceremony, where he was presented with both the Fans’ and Players’ Player of the Year awards.
