Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is edging closer to a switch to Inter Milan, according to reports from Italy.

The 32-year-old reportedly said “yes” to the move during a phone conversation with former City boss and current Inter coach Roberto Mancini on Tuesday. All that is left for the deal to be completed is for the two clubs to reach an agreement on the player’s transfer fee.

Manchester City are reportedly asking for £11 million. However, due to their Financial Pair Play restrictions, Inter Milan are trying to negotiate a lower amount.

Last week, the Italian giants were hit with a £14.5 million fine from UEFA and had their European squad reduced to twenty-two after breaking FFP rules.

When asked about the possibility of signing the Ivorian midfielder, Internazionale president Erick Thohir said the Nerazzurri will do everything to bring Toure to the San Siro next season.

“I can’t say what our chances are, but what is clear is that we will do everything to take him to Inter,” Thohir said.

According to reports, Inter have a four-year deal worth £3.6 million plus bonuses based on the midfielder’s performances and club achievements on the table.

Even though the figure would be less than what Toure currently earns per season at Manchester City, it would still make him Inter Milan’s highest paid player – ahead of Rodrigo Palacio and Nemanja Vidic.

The Italian side is also prepared to offer Toure a coaching role at the club when the 32-year-old ultimately decides to retire from football.

It is understood that the relationship between Toure and Roberto Mancini was the key component in the initial talks and is the reason the negotiations are progressing so quickly.

Mancini signed the midfielder from Barcelona in 2010 when he was in charge of Manchester City, and is determined to bring him to the San Siro.
