Juventus enter today’s Champions League Round of 16 return leg against Borussia Dortmund holding a 2-1 advantage.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri knows his side can advance to the quarter-finals of the competition with a 0-0 draw. But the Italian boss is not expecting a goalless result and is pushing his team to score against their German opposition.

“Having a 2-1 lead is certainly not a disadvantage,” Allegri said during his pre-match press conference. “We know how difficult it will be to go through though but BVB know about our quality.”

“It’s going to be an interesting game. I don’t think it will end 0-0, although that would be great for us. We will have to score, of that I am certain. It would be great to get two goals.”

For what it’s worth, Juventus have had previous success against Dortmund, winning their three previous matches at the Westfalenstadion, and the Italian champions have also won 31 of the 39 European ties in which they won the home leg – including all three where the initial score was 2-1.

However, Allegri knows his team can’t focus on past results. The Juventus coach is well aware of the qualities Dortmund possess and wants his team to build on its performance from the first leg.

“We have to prepare for Dortmund’s skill, pace and quality,” Allegri added. “They can put us under a lot of pressure. We will have to put in a perfect technical performance and exploit their weaknesses.

“We can take the first leg as our foundations – it was a more than decent performance. So far we can be pleased with what we have done.

“We are entering the home stretch of the season and now we will see if we can reap the rewards or not.”
