FOX scores biggest viewing audience ever for Champions League Round of 16 game

FOX Sports scored its biggest viewing audience ever for a UEFA Champions League game on FOX Sports 1 when an average viewing audience of 779,000 tuned in to watch Manchester City versus Barcelona match on Tuesday from 2:30pm-5pm ET.

The Manchester City 1-2 Barcelona game was the fifth most-watched sports event on cable on Tuesday, and achieved a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49.

Tuesday’s number is impressive given that it beat the previous record for a UEFA Champions League game Round of 16 on FOX Sports 1 from last week when 501,000 watched PSG vs Chelsea.

When the 779,000 number for Manchester City-Barcelona is taken into context with last season, it’s even more impressive considering that the 2014 UEFA Champions League semi-final between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea on April 30 attracted 627,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1.

The average TV viewing audience for Arsenal against Monaco on Wednesday was 322,000.

The Fox bashing on this website is lame and transparent. I agree, nothing wrong with their coverage. Americans fawn over NBC’s coverage and are enamored with the English accents. Fox is not perfect, but steadily improving. Their Champions League and Europa League coverage the past two seasons has been a massive improvement. And people forget that years gone by when ESPN had the Champions League rights you could get one game a week, on a Tuesday. That was it. Short memories and a lot of Johnny-come-lately’s who think they know it all when it comes to the coverage of the beautiful game in this country.

They make the CL suck the way they do it, I would love if NBC Sports got it cause they are dying for programming…And you already seen what they have done with the EPL.

What an intelligent, well thought and in depth comment. You sir are doing gods work. There was nothing wrong with Fox coverage at all. Get over it.
