According to the Spanish radio program El Larguero, midfielder Sami Khedira will not start another match for Real Madrid for the rest of this season.

The German international was already set to miss the next three weeks after straining a hamstring during his side’s 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid. But El Larguero is reporting that officials at Real Madrid are not happy with Khedira’s recent performances – most notably his lackluster effort against their city-rivals – and his decision to attend Cristiano Ronaldo’s 30th birthday party following Saturday’s loss at the Vicente Calderon.

In addition, the club is reportedly upset with the fact that the German has already signed a pre-contract agreement with a Bundesliga club (believed to be Bayern Munich).

Regardless of the claims from the Spanish radio program, Real Madrid’s midfield will be extremely shorthanded for their upcoming La Liga and Champions League fixtures. Luka Modric has been a long-term injury (with no return date set), and last week James Rodriguez was ruled out for two months with a broken foot.

With Khedira sidelined for three weeks, manager Carlo Ancelotti will have to turn to Asier Illarramendi and Brazilian-newcomer Lucas Silva for Real Madrid’s upcoming league fixtures against Deportivo La Coruna, Elche and Villarreal; as well as their Champions League Round of 16 first leg against FC Schalke 04.
