West Brom are edging closer to sealing a deal for Wigan winger Callum McManaman.

The Baggies made a third bid for the 23-year-old over the weekend and talks between the two clubs are continuing, Press Association Sport understands.

Albion have had two bids rejected by the Latics as head coach Tony Pulis looks to overhaul his squad in the January transfer window.

He has already canceled Silvestre Varela's loan from Porto and Sebastian Blanco is moving to San Lorenzo.

It is understood Shola Ameobi has agreed a deal with the club, although the ex-Newcastle striker is yet to sign, and Wolves' Bakary Sako is a target.

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett insisted on Saturday Albion have not been in touch but Pulis is keen on the Mali international.

McManaman is a top target, though, and he has scored five goals in 23 games for the Latics this season.

He played in Wigan's 1-0 Sky Bet Championship defeat to Huddersfield on Saturday which left them second bottom.
