Inter Milan Agree Loan Deal For Bayern Munich Winger Xherdan Shaqiri

Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri will be joining Inter Milan for the remainder of the season.

The deal reportedly will see the Swiss international join the Serie A side on loan, with a forced redemption clause of 12 million euros (£9.4 million) to take hold at the conclusion of the campaign.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the winger has signed with the Nerazzurri until 2019, with a yearly salary of 2.75 million euros (£2.2 million) per season; which could rise slightly depending on different performance related bonuses.

Shaqiri had been a reported transfer target of Juventus and Liverpool. The Swiss international was allowed to miss training earlier today in order to proceed with the deal which will see him ply his trade in Italy.

Inter Milan’s official Twitter account has confirmed a deal is taking place which will see the Swiss star switch from the Bundesliga to Serie A, all that remains are for the signatures to be signed off.

“There is total agreement between Inter and Bayern Munich for the arrival of Xherdan Shaqiri. We’re only missing the signatures.”

The move marks Roberto Mancini and Inter Milan’s second foray into the January transfer market. Just a few days ago, the Nerazzurri were able to secure Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski on-loan for the remainder of the season as well.

Mancini is looking to bolster his side and make a run at Champions League qualification for next season. The club’s first match of the New Year saw them draw 1-1 with league leading Juventus on Tuesday.

Milan are only five points away from a Champions League position in Italy.

Goes to show just how far Liverpool have fallen that he would choose Inter who are struggling even more than Liverpool. Looks like some players don’t want to play for Rodgers and choosing Mancini over him is a no brainer. One is a proven winner in multiple leagues while the other hasn’t won anything anywhere yet. Tough times for the Pool. They will continue to overpay for average talent.

So far as I can tell Stoke had a better chance of getting him than Liverpool!
