Chelsea take on Liverpool at Anfield in Saturday’s early kickoff as they hope to extend their lead at the top of the table having made an unbeaten start to their 2014-15 Premier League campaign.

The Blues labored to a 2-1 win at home to QPR last week and could only manage a draw in their midweek Champions League tie with FK Maribor, but the men from Stamford Bridge are in fairly buoyant mood ahead of the weekend’s big clash.

Mourinho has confirmed that he has a fully fit squad to select from with Cesar Azpilicueta returning from suspension, while John Obi Mikel and Loic Remy are both fit again after they recovered from knee and groin injuries respectively.

Liverpool on the other hand are not enjoying the best of times as they went down 1-0 to Real Madrid in midweek, but the real headline from that match was Brendan Rodgers’ bewildering team selection. The Northern Irishman dropped seven first team players and named an inexperienced starting XI for the match, prompting criticism from various pundits.

Perhaps he thought it was always going to be difficult to get anything from the Bernabau and decided to rest his key players for the more winnable fixture. On the night though, the fringe players showed great character and the Reds were a much improved outfit.

Rodgers must now make key decisions about whether to stick with the bulk of the players that shone at Real Madrid or reinstate his rested stars. The Reds continue to miss Daniel Sturridge who is still recovering, while José Enrique, Jon Flanagan, Suso and Mamadou Sakho also remain sidelined.
