Finally a penalty shootout where both teams knew how to actually take a penalty. Even the one missed by Greek wasn’t a poor effort.

    Congratulations to Costa Rica.

Costa Rica showed real guts in this one… not the most exciting first half, but incredible finish (Best PK’s I’ve seen in awhile… from both sides).

I’m already hoping to see Campbell back at Emirates this fall…

Ticos showed big heart down a man for 54 minutes. give up equalizer in 90th minute 30 minutes extra time dead on their feet. Nothing but quality in the penalties. Well played Ticos.

    Navas MOTM!

What a World Cup we’ve seen!

Dear God, one thing I ask is don’t let this garbage Brazil side get to the World Cup final.

On Friday, any normal neutral football fan will be a Colombian fan!

The Ticos are living a Greek Tragedy. 🙁

There are few things better than a late goal like that. Raw, unhinged passion. Marvelous

It might be the end if the road for Costa Rica. Greece making the extra man advantage count. Looking the more likely now.

Another last minute goal to draw the game 1-1 …. wow ….. so many amazing last minute goals in this world cup. You can’t turn away from the t.v. …. I thought the Ticos had done it.

Sokatis plays for Dortmund. He’s done this a couple of times for them in the Bundesliga.

What the heck are Daniel Mann and Kasey Keller doing talking about USA vs Belgium during the Greece-Costa Rica game as Greece breaks towards goal and almost scores?!

Everyone knows that the USA are playing Belgium on Tuesday. Save the USA analysis for the analysis shows. Sheesh!

It’s for the US viewers I’m guessing. But I agree with you.

Costa Rica scoring against the run of play, but a beautiful goal.

Red card now, should make for fascinating last 20 minutes. Too bad the Greeks really don’t have game changers and can’t score a goal to save their lives.

Let’s hope they prove me wrong.

Anyone want to bet that Greece will win on penalties today?

      I bloody hope not.

I’ve felt this game would go down to PK’s with Greece having advantage. But as we’ve seen in this world cup, last minute goals have undone a number of teams.

Unsurprisingly a tepid 0-0 draw at halftime. I hope Costa Rica knock Greece out so we are spared more of their sheer dullness. I can easily see this one going a scoreless draw on penalties, a diabolical affair similar to Romania-Ireland 1990, Switzerland-Ukraine 2006 or Paraguay-Japan 2010.

Disagree with you, Costa Rica don’t play inspiring attacking football either. In fact, they remind me of Greece’s Euro 2004 team. They sit back, but when they attack they make it count.

England and Italy fans are asking themselves , “How did it come to this?”.

      June 29, 2014 at 4:13 pm

Tell them, these two teams showed more heart and desire, plus maybe better tactics and coach.
