England international Adam Lallana is reportedly in Liverpool for a medical ahead of a transfer from Southampton to Liverpool.

The 26-year-old Lallana has been a Liverpool target for weeks, and it looks like the Reds will bring him to Anfield for a reported £25 million transfer fee. If they do make a move, Lallana will join his former Southampton teammate Rickie Lambert and Emre Can (formerly of Bayer Leverkusen) as new additions to the club.

After struggling last summer to attract top players to the club, Liverpool’s return to UEFA Champions League play – and the money that goes along with it – have made things easier this year to lure players to Anfield.

In 242 appearances with Southampton, Lallana has scored 60 goals, including nine last season, earning him a place on the Professional Footballers Association Premier League team of the year. He was a second-half substitute for England in their World Cup games against Italy and Uruguay, and started the group stage finale against Costa Rica.

While Lallana looks likely to join Liverpool, Manchester United announced the signing of fellow teammate Luke Shaw today. The exodus from Southampton will be worrying for Saints fans despite the appointment of Ronald Koeman as manager.
