AS Roma and Inter Milan are set to face off on Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the International Champions Cup on August 2nd. This match will be team’s last in their Champions Cup tournament, each having played two games before the winners of Group A and Group B will face off for the Championship.

The match between Inter Milan and AS Roma will be a perfect opportunity to see some of the stars including Nemanja Vidic, Francesco Totti, Miralem Pjanić, Gervinho and possibly many of the Italy World Cup stars depending on how far they advance in World Cup 2014.

Lincoln Financial Field is home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles and Temple University’s Temple Owls of the NCAA, the annual Army versus Navy game is also played in The Linc. The stadium holds a total capacity of 68,532 and was opened in 2003 after construction began in 2001. When the stadium opened in 2003, it hosted a pre-season friendly between Manchester United and FC Barcelona, a match that Man United won 3-1. Several times the local MLS team, Philadelphia Union, will play high profile games when their stadium PPL Park cannot hold the viewers.

A.S. Roma, has played in the top tier of Italian soccer every year since being founded in 1927, except for the 1951-1952 season. They’ve won the Serie A three times, nine Coppa Italia titles and two Supercoppa Italian titles. Their home stadium is Stadio Olimpico and can seat 70,634 people, their share their stadium with their local rivals Lazio but have plans to build their own stadium set to open in 2016.

Internazionale Milano (aka Inter Milan) is the only Italian team to play in the top tier of Italian football, Serie A, since being founded in March of 1908. The Nerazzuri play in Giuseppe Meazza, a stadium that can hold a maximum of 80,018 people. Inter has won 30 domestic trophies, including 18 league titles, the Coppa Italia 11 times, the Supercoppa Italiana five times and the Champions League three times including an unprecedented in Italian football back-to-back League titles.

AS Roma appointed a new manager at the start of the 2013-2014 season, Rudi Garcia, who enjoyed a successful start to his career in Rome by setting a record in winning 10 games in a row. AS Roma will be competing in the Serie A for the 62nd season in a row and 82nd overall.

After a poor 2012-2013 season Inter appointed a new head coach in Walter Mazzarri who led Inter to finish 5th in the Serie A during the 2013-2014 season. They’re considered the second most supported team in Italy and eight in Europe, Inter is one of the most valuable teams in soccer.

Both clubs compete in the Serie A and are rivals in Italy, and will have played twice in Serie A matches before meeting again in Philadelphia.
