West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan, who is seemingly on a mission to singlehandedly relegate the Hammers given his penchant for trying to get sent off, has been fined £100,000 by West Ham for the costly red card that he received against Fulham in the New Year’s Day match.

Nolan has been fined two weeks wages for the second red card in four games. The footballer also risks losing his captaincy.

After the match, West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce said:

“Our captain was irresponsible. Not just today but for the future because he is suspended.

“He’s let everyone down and himself. I just don’t quite understand where he’s lost his cool and why it’s happened.

“I know their centre-half fouled him, and I also know that [referee] Mark Clattenburg didn’t give a free kick and he should have done.

“But it’s still not an excuse for what Kevin did, and he ends up getting himself sent off.”
