Veteran Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has signed a one-year contract at Crystal Palace to keep the footballer at Selhurst Park through until the end of the 2013-14 season.

Phillips, who turns 40 this week, scored seven goals in sixteen appearances last season including his goal at Wembley Stadium that sealed promotion on the final day of last season to lift Palace into the Premier League. He was on loan at Palace from Blackpool.

While older than most other Premier League strikers, Phillips has an incredible strike rate after scoring bags of goals for the other clubs he’s played for including Sunderland, West Brom, Birmingham, Blackpool, Southampton and other clubs.

Phillips is the quintessential journeyman striker who remains the only Englishman to ever win the European golden boot (now renamed golden shoe).
