Sunderland Home Shirt For 2012-13 Season Looks Like Stoke City [PHOTO]

Stoke City has unveiled their new home shirt for the 2012-13 season. It’s exactly the same shirt that Stoke City wore last season except the collar is slightly different. Other than that, it’s the same designer (adidas) and the same red and white stripes.

What? This is Sunderland’s home strip? Oh, sorry.

Sunderland’s new home shirt for the 2012-13 season looks eerily similar to Stoke City’s home shirt from last season. Yes, of course both clubs wear red and white stripes, but you would think that adidas could have used some creativity and imagination (as well as a little effort) to make Sunderland’s home kit look more like Sunderland, than Stoke. The black shorts that Sunderland will be wearing helps, but it would have been nice to see a black trim on this Sunderland shirt design to make it look more like a Wearside jersey.

Blue sponsor’s logo with the red and white shirt and the black shorts – just kind of busy and all over the place in addition to being a “meh” template design.

That’s too bad, as I thought Sunderland’s kit looked pretty good last year with the black Tombola logo, black shorts, black sleeve and collar trim, and black numbers.

Come to think of it that was an extremely sharp look.

I thought private enterprise was all about risk and innovation? Let the work experience guy knock up a one off design in his lunch break if costs are so tight! This is a company strangled by its own size and conservatism. 58.35€ is too high – SELL.

Agree with G. Adidas has been a template company for decades. It’s not often that one of their clubs gets a special treatment, unless they’re an out-and-out signature club.

I disagree slightly. Swansea’s kits for last season were very template-driven. For next season, they’re quite a bit unique (and so they should be, since it’s the 100th anniversary for the club).

But most clubs that use Adidas use the templates.

      Cheers,

Athletic Bilbao new shirt is much better looking!! Not much of a deal wearing the same shirt as a team in the same league.
