Bitter rivals are the best words to describe Netherlands against Germany. These two teams hate losing to each other, and there’s an incredible amount of history between the neighbors.

In today’s match, it could be a more physical match with Netherlands desperate to win, while they’ll be focused on stopping Germany’s midfield. A win for Germany, meanwhile, will be just what the doctor ordered to help them get through to the quarter-finals.

Before, during and after today’s match, post your rants, raves, questions and observations in the comments section below.

I still wouldn’t be surprised if Holland go through as I can see the Germans easily beating Denmark and Holland beating Portugal. Stranger things have happened.

Who’s the idiot who said that Germany only had 3 good players?? Not only are Germany’s players tactically more advanced than netherlands but most of them also play for big clubs.

Netherlands’ starting XI is not as good as Germany’s. yes they have Robben, Van Persie and Sneijder but who else? The one other player that netherland had that could do something brilliant on his own is Eljero Elia but his stupid move to Juve killed his chances of playing in the Euros.

Germany got Mueller, Ozil, GOmez, Bastian S, Boateng, Lahm, Hummels, Khedira, Podlski and Neuer… Not only that, look at their bench.

Germany don’t look good enough to win this tourney, They were lucky to beat Portugal and if the dutch defence was even half decent I think we would have had a different result.
Still they keep winning while not looking that good and that’s a good habit to have

Spain and Italy both look better than the Germans. I don’t see anything special, but it is hard to judge them accurately after they played a poor performing dutch team.

Spain & Italians have both had scoring opportunities that the Germans would have capitalized on.

    no urgency from Holland

sneijder needs to either start playing or get off, too lazy, VDV and Huntelaar aren’t miracle workers. RVD needs to get his head out of his ass. This performance is so much worse than the game against the daines, very poor performance.

Did anyone else’s ESPN3 video quality go to crap right before the half?

I think the left back is that 18 year-old. Or if it isn’t the guy is certainly playing like one.

What’s the saying, ‘if you’re good enough you’re old enough’, his problem is he isn’t good enough, he’s all over the place, Germany are looking to go at him

Germans are not even celebrating that much. It looks almost like it is just a formality for them.

Maybe next time the Dutch will feel like playing what a disgrace.Bert might get his walking papers after this fiasco.Should be three but two will do goodnight to the Dutch.

Left back for Holland is terrible, absolute liability. Holland are like France, decent going forward and very average at the back

Beautiful work down there by Schweinsteiger and Gomez. I agree with Dust – curious to not see Huntelaar out there.

Huntelaar was top goal scorer in the the German league, why wouldn’t you put him up against the same players he knows and beats on the regs. It’s just weird. If RVD doesn’t score or have a positive impact he should come off or move out left at half time.

one change at the back for holland, no huntelaar start or vdv. no changes to the germans side
