I used to love compiling mix-tapes especially in the days of cassette tapes. I’d buy a pack of Maxell cassettes and then literally spend hours of lazy Sunday afternoons sorting through my record collection to find the right tracks, in the right order, for the right kind of mood I was in. And then came the task of recording the songs on to tape, syncing up the songs and carefully filling out the liner card with the song selections.

Compiling playlists is, in comparison, a breeze these days — especially with Spotify. The selection of music available at your fingertips is enormous, and it’s so easy to create a compilation of your own.

So a few weeks ago, I decided to compile a collection of some of my favorite songs that I felt would get readers into the mood for Euro 2012. The collection is very English-based. There are a few soccer songs on there, but I tried to mix it up to cover a range of different music styles. I also asked EPL Talk’s followers on Twitter to help me out, and I received several excellent suggestions that have been added.

If you don’t have a Spotify account, it’s free and highly recommended. You can sign up at https:\/\/www.spotify.com/signup/ And feel free to follow me. My account is under my real name, Christopher Harris.

There are a total of 19 tracks listed (as of press time). So you can scroll down the Spotify widget above to pick and choose, or you can listen to the mix from the beginning.

Also, if you have any suggestions of songs that aren’t included that you think would be a worthy addition to a Euro 2012 playlist, post your ideas in the comments section below.
