The official trailer for PES 2012 (Pro Evolution Soccer 2012) has been released at Gamescom 2011, the video game tradeshow being held in Germany this week.

The big announcement from Konami was that Cristiano Ronaldo will be on the cover of the game.

And by watching the above video, you can see why PES 2012 will definitely give EA’s FIFA 12 a run for its money when both games are released within the next month.

Graphically, the game looks great, and Konima have seriously upped their game in the last 2 years… much so that I actually think the PES graphics are now BETTER than FIFA.

However, I will wait and see how this game plays (especially on-line) – I used to love PES up till Pro Evo 6, but after that they tampered with the game too much, and the online play was laggy and frustrating, so finally after a couple of years of being fed-up with their offerings, I decided to switch to FIFA (controversial!) and enjoyed FIFA much more than the last 3 versions of PES.

Hopefully, this time they will have got it right, and the gameplay will be as great as it used to be (4 versions ago!), but I’m not holding my breath.
