Baseball Fans Riot After Team Wins World Series: Video

The next time a sports fan starts bashing soccer by mentioning hooliganism in the same sentence, have them watch the above video of baseball fans rioting in San Francisco after the Giants won the World Series. They started a fire in the street and attacked a car and its occupants before police broke up the protests.

And here are scenes of baseball fans throwing glass bottles at San Francisco police officers. Disgusting.

What’s soccer? Is that the silly name Yanks give to football?

Is that witty snark you were straining at, TC? Looks like bumbling
ignorance to me. “Soccer” is actually the BRITISH term for the
sport, which was adopted by other countries. Soccer is an
abbreviation for “association football,” which is the true name of
what you believe to be “football.” There’s a number of nations
around the world that do NOT call soccer “football,” not just
Americans. Canadians call it soccer as well and use the word
“football” to refer to American and Canadian Football, but I don’t
see you sneering about “the silly name Canucks give to football.”
South Africans, too, call it “soccer,” as do many Australians
(especially since they have Australian Rules Football). So please,
pull your head out of your tailpipe.

Yep. In America, more than watch soccer.

You fail to make to obvious points – this crap is occurring on the street and not in the stands of a match. The second point is I highly doubt every single person throwing stuff is a San Francisco Giants fan/baseball fan. I am an ardent fan of of both sports. Why not try to tear down the silos that exist between soccer and other sports in America instead of instigating further agitation by to put together a paper-thin visual argument?

who cares who deserved what, they are all idiots for it all. and all of this for the world’s most boring “sport”. That’s what pisses me off more than anything, baseball fans telling me soccer is boring! Any sport that you take stats on paper while your casually watching has to be boring.

    1) The car started it.
    2) Cut the bottle-throwers some slack: they were drunk.
