McClaren Shuffles His Squad Before What Will Be A Very Expectant Season For Die Wolfe Fans.

Steve McClaren has been ringing in the changes as he prepares to challenge for a European spot this season. McClaren just recently took over Wolfsburg as head coach just previous to the World Cup, and has been cutting out all of the dead weight in the squad, and bringing in very competent reinforcements.

So far, McClaren has signed Arne Friedrich, Cicero, Mandzukic, Simon Kjaer and Nassim Ben Khalifa. McClaren has sold Obafemi Martins, Jan Simunek, Johnathan Santana, and Christian Gentner just to name a few.

Now, Brazilian defender Rever is on his way back to Brazil with Atletico Mineiro as McClaren continues to reshuffle the squad. The strange thing about Rever’s transfer, is that in January 2010 he signed a 5-year contract with the club, but failed to make a single league appearance for the side. Now, he is quickly on his way out of the club and back to Brazil. McClaren must be praised, though, for his ability to hold on to key players like Edin Dzeko, Grafite, Misimovic, and Diego Benaglio.

McClaren will be praised for his wheeling and dealing in the transfer market, and being able to build a very competent squad, at least on paper, for Die Wolfe this season. A European spot looks very achievable as things stand for Wolfsburg this season.
