Weezer may be best known for its hit single “Buddy Holly,” but what you may not know is that singer/songwriter Rivers Cuomo is also a massive soccer fan. Not only is he a big soccer fan, but he’s also a supporter of the US men’s national team. So much so, in fact, that he just released a brand-new song called “Represent,” which is the unofficial theme song for the 2010 US men’s national team at the World Cup.

The video definitely tugs at the heart strings especially with the footage of Charlie Davies. And has plenty of other great video footage of the US men’s national team in action.

The song is available as a free download this week on iTunes (US residents only).

But what do you think of the song and is it something you feel that is appropriate for the US men’s national team?
