Tottenham Unveil Latest Plans for Mini-Me Emirates Stadium

Lots of news from England in the last 24 hours (read EPL Talk’s Premier League news feed updated daily). Here are just a few of the highlights:

  • Tottenham Hotspur Unveil Future Plans for White Hart Lane (Tottenham Hotspur). Spurs have released detailed plans for their mini-me Emirates Stadium to replace their current ground at White Hart Lane in north London. Download a free guide to the planned changes to White Hart Lane (20MB).
  • Why Have We Not Fought To Save Our Old Stadiums? (The Daily Mirror). On the topic of football stadiums, Oliver Holt takes us on a journey through some of the relics of English football stadiums (some remaining, most not), and asks why these buildings aren’t preserved.
  • Fields Of Anfield Road Music Video (Liverpool FC). The Farm frontman Peter Hooten gets involved with former Liverpool greats and fellow musicians to record a beautiful rendition of ‘Fields Of Anfield Road’ in remembrance of those who lost their lives at Hillsborough almost 20 years ago.
  • Xabi Alonso Chats With Jan Molby (Guillem Balague). The Spanish journalist manages to get two midfield maestros together to interview each other in a very unique and interesting format.
  • Setanta Scores New IPTV System (Computer Business Review). This looks to only affect customers in the United Kingdom, but it’s interesting to note regardless.
  • ESPN Coming to YouTube, But Short-Form Only (New Tee Vee). No news on whether this will include soccer clips from ESPN, but it could be something to keep an eye out for.
  • Last but not least, we’ve received a tip that the world’s third richest man, Carlos Slim, may be interested in putting a New York City soccer team in Queens instead of Wilpon.

So Arsenal created the design of the bowl stadium themselves did they?! Ha ha ha! Pathetic goons who know zilch about the game back out in force again I see. Check out Benfica.s recently built stadium if you want to see imitation…yep, it looks just like The Emirates! Or should I say, The Emirates looks just like it seeing as it was built years bnefore Arsenal decided to copy it and paste it in North London.
Tottenhams new stadium will be different from Arsenal’s as Levy has already pointed out. Fans will be much closer to the pitch, the stands will be steeper thus creating a better atmosphere and when full, it will of course be twice, maybe even three times as loud! It will also be a much different, purer colour too, unlike The Emirates who even copied the colour of Benfica’s ground!
What next Goons? Arsenal invented pass and move football(copyright Tottenham Hotspur 1951)…dream on plastics.

(woolwhich)arsenal came from and played ,south of the river when formed and ……spurs have always been in northlondon! tottenham marshes etc,
the emirates/(wembley) stadium is different in its seating and roof design ….the new white hart lane will be the latest in stadia and the bowl design is used for
modern design for reasons to maximise experience …..and on completion will be one of the best grounds in the EPL!

Arsenal fans make me laugh, they have to get there fat noses involved with our stadium plans.. the reason is simple, they are jealous of our new stadium which looks about ten times better than their Arab stadium – and you can rely on spurs to be picky over the stadium naming rights, unlike arsenal who gladly bent over for the Arabs… i mean who would want a stadium with the word Arab in it?? that is shameful to the English game.. anyway lets talk about spurs this season… spurs had a dreadful start, but Harry has come in and all fans alike know how good he is at what he does… Spurs are now actually top of the form table in the premier league!! Yes top!! We have not been beaten by any top four team, and have beaten 2 of the top 4… The Arse fans hate this.. we have an english manager, and english football team — they dream of this… they have foreign stadium foreign manager and foreign team.. they all know that Spurs glory days are coming and Arsenal have been on a slow decline.. what have they won recently… what have spurs won?? exactly.. that with Defoe and Keane Back.. bring it on Arse wipes..

Neil, Arsenal have a 20 year mortgage, once the repayments for the year have been paid off the rest is profit! Thats how finance works, and if you did you would not only know that but you’d also know that is highly unlikely that Spurs aren’t in some form of debt, in the form of either loans or an overdraft. Which again doesn’t make them unprofitable.
I suggest you know this already, and will no doubt be saying excatly what i’ve just said once Spurs have landed their own £200+ million debt/mortgage on your new stadium

Neil – you’re out of your depth. Arsenal pre-tax profits were £24.5 million over the 6 months to the end of November 2008. Being in debt does not imply being virtually bankrupt (fortunately for the UK, you might say) because – and this might come as a surprise to you – it doesn’t have to be paid back all at once. Debt servicing is a burden on Arsenal, no doubt, but one which is bearable and will not last forever. As we all know, it has had an impact on the transfer budget, which explains why Arsenal are unable to spend the sort of money that Spurs do on players. Fortunately for Arsenal fans, a pound spent by Wenger goes an awful lot further than a pound spent by Spurs!

John..there are no profits at Arsenal you numpty…they are very firmly in the red mate not the black. If youknow anything about finance, which is clearly very little, you will know that being in the red means your unable to make profit because of debt. Whilst Spurs truly are of only about 5 clubs in the Premier league who are…Arsenal are indeed virtually bankrupt.

why yes ArthurArseGooner we call ourselves yids to show solidarity with our Jewish supporters after they were being racially abused by the national front at stadiums across the country (except at spurs) and most prominent was at the north bank highbury

Perhaps it would be possible and I hasten to add possible to take arsewipes seriously if they could spell..We have john above trying to sound worthy of being listened to then he let’s us have “flatery” in his sentence..nice one dumbo..and then tariq Taco, the newly found arse fan who realises the red shirt matches the rag on his head, calling someone an idiot, hey I am all for laughing at the woolwich boy’s,but surely there comes a time when you have to stop laughing at yourselves..So much media coverage for Spurs when we’re an average mid table team, can you imagine what the furore would be when we’re successful..makes your heart bleed don’t it?…lol…

Paul, Steve, you are stupid! Arsenal sit just about Spurs on the rich list do they? well if you consider a turnover and profits that are twice the size of Spurs, as just above, than i suppose Arsenal are just that.
As per usual, Spurs mimic Arsenal, which is the most sincere form of flatery!
however if Spurs want to be successful they’re going to have to be ahead of the competition not trailing in its wake!

oh, and I’m a different steve than the earlier one by the way.

It’s great, because even if spurs were to pass arsenal on the rich list, they still would never manage to finish above them in the league.

i love how some of these idiot spuds fans come out of the closet today and some are dumb enough to believe this thing. hahaha

theyll always be a mid table club from now on.

lol..well I probably would be if I listened to you mate. Thanks for taking the time to read my post..glad you enjoyed it!! And don’t worry..Arsenal will remain bankrupt but asset rich for another couple of seasons yet. Just until the ribbon is cut at the new and 2nd greatest stadium(behind wembley) in North London!

Steve….you’re an idiot, you do know that right?

The new Spurs complex will be a bigger project than the Emirates overall. Im afraid a mini-me comparison is simply poor research om your part. It will also cost a lot less than the Emirtaes because Levy will take advantage of more competetive building costs because of the credit crunch. Whilst the Emirates has all but bankrupted Arsenal, Spurs will remain substantially better off.
Infact Arsenal sit just above Spurs(just) in the world football rich league for one reason only currently..the asset value of their stadium. Once the new Spurs stadium is built they will leap-frog Arsenal in a major way in the rich list.

  23. Paul

April 1, 2009 at 1:05 pm is Spurs new stadium a min-me of the emirates exactly?? Its just shy of the same capacity and will occupy almost the same area. Actually if the full plans are excepted, including the shopping and hotel complex plus the community areas it will probably be as bigger project!

Get your journalistic facts right you dope!

C’mon Chris, it’s a joke (in the spirit of April’s Fools Day). But you have to admit, the stadium looks like a replica of Emirates both inside and out.
