Spanish international David Villa signed an extension with Valencia that will have him under contract with the club until 2014.   This thwarted any chance of Real Madrid obtaining him for the €40 million that the Merengues offered for the former Pichichi´s services.   Real Madrid was also looking at the possibility of offering €45 million as well as either Gonzalo HIguaín or Rubén De La Red for Villa.
Schuster´s ¨Villa or Bust¨ request made it clear as to who he thought was the important to expend more energy on during the off-season.  Such was the case that the coach´s relationship with the club president has become strained.
This also slammed the door on any speculation that Tottenham or Chelsea would have a chance at obtaining the Valencia scorer.   According to Goal.com, the latter began looking into the possibility of buying Villa as they look to complete their Spanish hat-trick.
