AC Milan owner, chairman and media tycoon Silvio Berlusconi indicated earlier this week he would veto any potential Air France take over of Alitalia if and when he wins Italy’s general election next month. More…

Ahead in polls as the next Italian prime minister, Berlusconi, is feeling the pulse of a nation with this response. The deal has run into stiff opposition from Italian unions and Milan’s airport operator and without governmental support the Air France-KLM consortium have indicated they’ll drop the deal altogether. Berlusconi while campaigning surprised many in declaring an all-Italian consortium would rescue Alitalia from the “arrogant and unacceptable French offer”

Berlusconi is listed as having a 10 billion US net worth, Silvio care to buy an airline?Onto Italian football and key matches of the week,

will Lazio help their city rivals Roma in the race to catch Inter? Will Fiorentina steal something on their travels to Udinese?

Will Atalanta hand AC Milan yet another draw result at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza?

The Milan midfielders took part in the midweek friendly between Spain and Italy so look for tired legs and no Kaka. Gilardino has been down with the flu this week so perhaps Paloschi will start up front for Milan but my money is on Pato regardless it will have to be a huge performance for the youngsters against this hungry opposition. Milan are 4-7-3 at the San Siro while Atalanta have a record of 3-4-8 on the road this season.
