The Winners

At top of Serie A Inter, Roma and Juventus were situation normal all three winning with a scoreline of 2 – 0.

A bruised and beaten AC Milan also overcame opponents Empoli by a score of 3 – 1. I personally had wondered how the Rossoneri would respond considering their midweek Champions League crash and burn at the feet of Arsenal. It looks like the rabbit’s foot in Ancelotti’s pocket did the trick this time.
The Losers
On the otherhand midweek winners Fiorentina (in their UEFA Cup clash against English side Everton), were not so lucky. The Viola suffered defeat in the finally 10 minutes, when Siena fans were treated to simply the best goal of the day by Massimo Maccarone. The former Middlersborough player was given an opportunity to score with a direct kick awarded just outside the box and Maccarone made the most it by curling his strike into the extreme top right-hand corner.
Finally, bottom club Cagliari could not hold onto their early lead over Catania and ended up losing 2 – 1. Cagliari have only one road win this season going all the way back to their opening match against Napoli, things are looking very desperate indeed for the islanders.
I had the opportunity of watching Saturdays draw between Palermo and visitors Udinese and would like to leave you with three names you’ll be hearing more on. The young Chilean midfielder Mauricio Isla who I saw last summer in the FIFA under 20s score 2 goals against Nigeria , keeper Samir Handanovic, and centerback Felipe. All three played important roles helping Udinese to draw even and then hold off an aggressively attacking Amauri and company during the finally 20 minutes.
