Reigning champs AC Milan were given the top seed in the draw for Champions League groups. The full lineup for the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League has been confirmed with Real Madrid CF’s triumph in Spain this past Sunday marking the conclusion of all of Europe’s domestic league seasons.

The seeding is based on performances over the previous five seasons and determines the number of spots each national association will have in the following campaign’s UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup.

The top eight are:
1 AC Milan
2 Barcelona
3 Liverpool
4 Inter Milan
5 Arsenal
6 Real Madrid
7 Manchester United
8 Chelsea

When the full draw is made, the top 8 seeds go into pot 1, the next eight remaining seeds into pot 2, and so on. The groups are made up of one random draw from each pot. There are some very good sides in the second grouping of eight including Valencia, Roma and Lyon. The draw for the group stage will be made once the qualifying rounds have completed. The draw for the first two qualifying rounds will be made on Friday June 29th and we will have all the matchups (inlcuding some previews) posted here.
