Is Arsenal Still a Big Club?

At first glance, this question looks bleedingly obvious. With their massive fan base, a beautiful new 60,000 plus seat stadium, and their years of success and trophies, Arsenal should be quite clearly considered to be a “big club.” For the past decade and more, they have been considered part of […]

Poll: Should Cesc Fabregas Join Barcelona?

Here we go again. Reports are coming out of the British media that Cesc Fabregas has told his friends that he wants to leave Arsenal and go to Barcelona. And, at the same time, Barcelona has confirmed that they want to sign Fabregas but note that they need to discuss […]

Vicente del Bosque Announces Spain’s Provisional 30-Man Squad For FIFA World Cup 2010 Part Two

Yesterday, the goalkeeping and the defense were discussed, and while the three goalkeepers contending for the final goalkeeping spot will state their cases to Vicente del Bosque on and off the pitch, they will have little to no chance of participating in the World Cup.  The players who will compete […]

Why Arsenal's Season Has Not Been A Failure

So it looks as though that’s it for another year for Arsenal. Another trophy-less season. Wenger’s admirable faith in his side may have been slightly misplaced after all. They’re not far away from being winners but not close enough. But does it really matter? You’ll read and hear a lot […]

The Battle For Control At Arsenal Reaches The Next Level

After nearly two years of shadow boxing, the camps of Stan Kroenke and Alisher Usmanov are about to start to the real battle for control of the Gunners. Arsenal’s 4th largest shareholder, Lady Bracewell-Smith is looking to sell her 15.9% share and his retained the U.S. based brokers Blackstones to […]

Barcelona, We Meet Again

Since I’m new at EPL Talk, I’d like to talk a little bit more (before I discuss Wednesday’s match) about my history as an Arsenal fan. Slowly becoming a soccer fan in college, a 2006 trip to Europe with my girlfriend really cemented my love of the Gunners. Arriving in Paris just days before the Champions League Final, little did I know what would await me. The year before, I had been in Israel during the Liverpool-Milan game. Taking a cursory interest, I sat down with several Israelis who were screaming about how dominant Milan were. As everyone knows, it didn’t end up that way. But it was enough to turn me into a soccer fan for life.

Premier League Form XI

The saying goes that ‘form is temporary but class is permanent’ and on many levels this holds true, however such a huge part of professional sport is the mental aspect of the game, which at the highest level can be just as, if not more important than the physical aspect. With just 8 or […]

The Premiership Team Of The Decade

This decade has seen the Premiership continue to grow and attract some of the worlds greatest players throughout the last ten years. By continuing to attract some of the biggest stars in the world, only La Liga can truly consider itself a rival for the quality of the players on […]

Andrei Arshavin: Arsenal’s Added Cutting Edge

Football fans are not the most patient of breeds and short memories  are part and parcel of the game. As Arsenal hit top form and sit comfortably within the coveted Champions League places, few Gunners will recall that spell between January and February when their attack floundered haplessly. Shorn of their […]

Fabregas and Horton Prepare For Round Two

So, the FA have finally come out and asked Arsenal to respond within 7 days to Hull City and their Assistant Manger, Brian Horton’s, accusations that Cesc Fabregas spat at him in the tunnel. I’m amazed on several fronts, firstly the FA have managed to start an enquiry in the […]

Fox Soccer Channel Announces Summer Lineup

The summer’s marquee event is obviously the World Cup but after the final on July 11 many of Europe’s top clubs kick off their preseason preparations. Many of these clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City and AC Milan, will tour North America playing preseason fixtures. Last summer, Everton provided the opposition […]

Replacing David Beckham… (Bend It Like Walcott?)

Until Fabio Capello took the wheel at England FC, I had this vision of an England World Cup qualifier 40 years from now: England are facing Croatia (who else) in a must-win fixture. The Three Lions are playing with ten men, though nobody’s been ejected. On 25 minutes, Luca Modric […]
