Point Pick-up Game (EPL Talk Preview Podcast)

In Wednesday’s pod we let Matt take charge of things as Chelsea visit Leeds. Rafa Benitez has now seen 17 goals during his tenure as Chelsea manager – is this enough to appease those Blues fans that wanted him out before he’d taken charge of his first game?

Elsewhere, Arsenal put five past Reading then signed up five players to new contracts. Theo Walcott remained hauntingly absent from the picture. We discuss whether Arsenal should bow to his demands to try and sell him in the New Year – tell us what you think in the comments below.

Moving forward we have previews of all the weekend’s games and Morgan guides us through stats corner with a look at how side’s compare between the first and second halves of seasons. You might be surprised by what he finds…

As always the debate just isn’t half as fun without you guys, so catch us in the comments or on twitter to continue it.  Let’s EPL Talk about it:

Another great podcast guys. Always reliably interesting to listen to. Get well soon, Laurence!

You mentioned Morgan looking up stats, I’m not on twitter so thought i’d mention this here.

I realise this might not interest other people but I’ve been interested for a while in which nationalities score the most in the premier league. Maybe Morgan could find out whether there is a predominance of players of certain nationalities scoring goals (i’m assuming there will be – spain, belgium, england obviously), i just thought there might be some interesting surprises there.

maybe also looking at how this has (or hasn’t) changed over the years, or even just comparing this season and last season. perhaps looking at clubs where there are the fewest english goal scorers etc. i’m sure you guys would figure out some interesting points.

it might just be an odd curiosity of mine, but i would be really interested in some discussion about it.

other than that, all i can say is keep up the excellent work, guys. this is by far my favourite football podcast.

      Hey JM,

Thank you for the comment and the ‘well soon’. It worked.

We’ll see what Morgan can find. There should be lots of good stats out there. Any more requests? Put em in!

      Happy Holidays!

      Laurence
